4162.0. "Need an up-date on getting cats spayed" by CSCMA::BALDWIN () Fri Nov 09 1990 18:11

I am interested in getting my two little ones spayed. Does anyone
have any information on the most recent way of getting this done
relatively inexpensive? I read in earlier notes about getting
it done reasonably cheap if you have some sort of certificate? What's
the latest on this procedure and how do I get ahold of these
certificates; and where is a good place to have this procedure done
using them? You can send me email if you'd prefer.

The shelter that I picked up my little one offered to do it for $35.
I was weary because the place was not that clean and it seemed more
like a chore to them. I brought her in last week to my vet. For
$88 she stayed overnight, was given a full exam and a rabies shot and
was taken care of extremely well. I felt comfortable leaving her
there, plus I knew she would not get an infection since the place was
very clean. They took extremely good care of her, checked in with me,
and after a week when the sutures had to be removed, there was no sign
    of infection or trauma.

Friends of Animals, The MSPCA and the Standish Humane Society
    all offer discount spay/neuter certificates.
The certificates are good at participating Vets/Shelters, so
ask for a listing of those participating near you.

    Where are you located?

I'm in Santa Clara, Ca. and there is a place called the Spay/Neuter
Clinic off of Hwy. 101 and Old Oakland Rd. I had my first cat done
there and it was $30. She is fine now!

    Good Luck,
    Michele & Jasmine :)

    Hi Kevin,

Shrewsbury Animal Hospital will do a spay for $50, which includes
an optional overnight stay (costs the same whether she stays or not).
I don't know what their requirements are for shots, etc.; you'd have
    to call them at 845-7921.

4162.6Ordering Low cost spay/neuter cert. by phoneCRUISE::NDCPutiput Scottish Folds DTN:297-2313Wed Dec 05 1990 11:0113
This looks like as good a place as any to post this.

I was just informed by a fellow FELINER that it is possible to order
low cost spay/neuter certificates from Friends of Animals over the
phone by using your Mastercard or Visa.

For those who may wish to contact Friends of Animals, their phonne
number is 1-800-631-2212. I have the list of participating vets,
or you can ask them when you call to order the certificate. Be
sure you have a vet selected before you order the certificate, I
believe they are only good for a limited amount of time.
