4145.0. "Cat likes drafty doorways...HELP!" by CSCMA::BALDWIN () Wed Nov 07 1990 08:13

    I have a little one who lately seems to just curl up in front of
    a "drafty" (too say the least) crack in one of our doorways. She's
    also been wheezing a bit, so I can only assume she has gotten a
    cold from this unusual practice. Even if I block off this draft
    she'll go to another drafty area (like in the cellar) just for the
    breeze. I don't get it...is there something I can do to break her of
    this kooky habit? Her two sisters look at her quite wierd when she
    does stuff like this...not to mention so does her "Dad" (me). I just
    don't want her to come down with something, that's all. Any suggestions?

    I may be teaching my grandmother to suck eggs, but, does your cat have
    a temperature? She may just be trying to cool off, and the wheezing may be
    a cold or some other virus.

    If it's just a "kooky habit" what ever behavior modification strategy
    you take to break her of the habit, allow at least two weeks for it to
    work. (At least that's what the books say. Personally I have NEVER
    been able to break any cat of any habit, but I'm weak minded.)

    Best of luck

    Unless she does have a temperture and seems sick...I wouldn't worry
    about it. Most of my cats love to find the warmest place in the
    house to sleep....but I have one that loves to sleep anywhere
    where it's a bit chilly!

    Break the habit...ha ha!!

4145.3Some like it hot and some like it cold!CUPMK::TRACHMANEmacX Exotics * 264-8298Wed Nov 07 1990 12:288
    My crew seems to split their thinking on hot and cold. Some of them
    will find the coldest place in the house year round, and then the
    rest will try and find the hottest place to roost. The Exotics like
    to be cool, and will spend lots of time downstairs, where a bunch
    of the rest of the kids will huggle and snuggle almost on top of
    the wood stove !!

    Maybe she's just hot blooded! I have a fan in my office year
    round because I'm always hot. ;-)
