4141.1 | Santa's workshop, taking orders! | AKOV13::FALLON | Isn't that a Mooncat? | Wed Nov 07 1990 12:17 | 14 |
| That is a wonderful idea, but, my thought are running in a different
direction. I want to make some toys and things that are cat related to
give to catfriends this Christmas. Ideas I have are for
doughnuts/kitty cups, furry fruit, veggies and other assundry animals
not to mention the possibility of stud pants/queen jeans and bow ties.
Pretty much like most of the stuff you can pick up at the shows.
Perhaps we can have a pattern exchange started or even idea exchanges!
I have ordered a dolls brass bed for Christmas already and plan to make
a fake mink cover for the mattress. This way my cats won't be
"minkless" any more!
What say all of you?

| The Nashua Humane is having a Craft/Bake Sale this Saturday, 11/10, at
the Nashua Mall off exit 6 in Nashua. Sale starts at 10:00am. Featured
at the sale will be ceramic pet food dishes -- some are shaped like
cats and others like dogs. Really neat gift idea and part of the
profits go to the shelter. These bowls are made to order and can be
painted in virtually any color combination. Stop by.

| Hooray -- I had just about given up hope of ever finding a ceramic dish for
Spats, I'll drop by Saturday and take a look. All my cats have their own
dish and I try to match coat color and/or personality to the dish. With 11
I've run out of different choices! Every time we go by a new pet store I have
to stop in and look for dishes, but lately all I find is ones I already have.
Wouldn't want to confuse the little dears by having two dishes alike...

A few years ago, I got the idea to bring each of the cats and dogs
at the local SPCA, some REAL treats at Christmas, such as toys and
bones, rather than just giving the shelter a check as I normally did.
I don't know why really, I just felt that Christmas was a very special
time, and the animals should have something special, something they
wouldn't normally have. So I called the shelter, got a count for
resident cats and a count for resident dogs, and then headed to the
Pet supply store. Since there were about 100 animals, this was
quite a large purchase, and caused quite a bit of curiousity, so I
explained what I was doing to the people in the shop, and they
voluntarily took 20% off the price as their contribution! I was able
to get each of the cats a catnip toy, and each dog a rawhide chew.
Somehow, it made me feel a bit less sad for the animals who were there
on Christmas Eve, to know that they had a special treat for the night.
Anyway, if any FELINERS think they might like to do this in their own
area, I would recommend calling ahead, as I've always done here, just
to be sure they don't have regulations prohibiting certain items.
Happy Holidays!

| I love the idea of the Christmas gifts or contributions to the
animals in the shelter. These little orphans need a special
treat for Xmas. Another suggestion would be to buy each one
their own box of Bonkers/Pounce as a special desert.
Gift ideas for cat lovers...my hubby just bought me a Hallmark
Xmas Ornament called "Kitty Mart". It has a paper bag with "kitty
mart" written on it....with the fattest little fur ball sticking
it's head our of the bag. It's real cute!

| re: Kitty Mart - I have that too!!
When we were kids we used to get a box of chocolates to give to
the Waltham Police - the probably thought we were nuts.

| You know, from what I hear Pat Brody is having a tough time Maybe
we could put together a basket or baskets of kitty toys and food
etc to give her kitties for Christmas. Getting it delivered shouldn't
be a problem, but collecting it will. Let me know if you're
interested. I suppose we should do this off line so this note doesn't
get cluttered up.
