4111.0. "Two Tiny Kittens" by FRICK::AMCGOWAN () Thu Oct 25 1990 16:00

    Hi Feliners,

    I just had to write and tell you about my experience this afternoon. I
    work in MRO and was taking my lunch hour walk around the facility. For
    those of you who have never been here, we are surrounded by wooded
    area. Anyway, I heard a rustling in the bushes, I turned to look and
    came face to face with the two sets of the cutest little button eyes I
    have ever seen. Two tiny kittens that could not be any more than 4 or
    5 weeks old. I said "Oh my God, you are so cute". Naturally they both
    ran into the brush. One is a fluffy black one with brown eyes, the
    other is a fluffy tigar with blue eyes. I saw the tigar again later
    and approached it. It ran under a shed and peeked out at me. I stood
    there talking to it. Of course to a passerby I looked as if I was
    talking to myself. (ask me if I care) Anyway, the two teensy things
    must be wild. Gosh are they cute. Wouldn't I just LOVE to add them to
    my "Pussey Collection"!!

    See you

    Knowing me, I would of spent the rest of the day chasing the little
    fur faces around. Are you going to try and catch them?

4111.2The Two Baby KittiesFRICK::AMCGOWANThu Oct 25 1990 16:3911
    If there is anyone interested in either of these two little darlings I
    would love to offer to catch them. However, I was just given two baby
    tigers for my birthday. I now have 4 kitties and one husband all in a
    condominium. My husband told me that I could have 2 more kitties AFTER
    we move to a larger house.

    So, anyone interested in the babies??

    Let me know,

4111.3*AW, GO AHEAD*AIMHI::OFFENThu Oct 25 1990 18:4619
    Now, if that was me, I would have gone to the cafeteria, gotten some
    tuna-fish and gone back out to catch the little darlings. Black with
    brown eyes, huh?? No, I can't have anymore either. I am already up to
    4 inside and 2 outside plus one dog.

    Why don't you try catching them and then try finding them a home
    afterwards?? Or bringing them to a humane society. It's starting to
    get cold in the evenings.

    That was just a suggestion. That decision is up to you. But I
    remember the one and only time I didn't do what my heart wanted to. I
    wish I had...the kitten would still be alive....

    Good luck

    After what was broadcasted on Peter Jennings, re Note 4102, the humane
    society is out of the question. Fate will just have to take over for
    these two little guys.

    correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm under the impression that pound
    seizure is illegal in Mass. Why don't you find a no-kill shelter.
    I'm at MR03 and I'll be happy to loan you my fishnet to catch them.
    I doubt you'll get them without something to help.

       Definately get them inside! It is going to be in the thirties this
    weekend.

    but keep them isolated from your cats until they've seen a vet.
    Wash your hands with hot water and soap after any contact with
    them.

    Unless someone comes forward to adopt them, I have no intention of
    trying to catch these kittens. I am sure that they will find shelter
    with  their mother this weekend.

    You can find out if a given pound sells its animals for "research",
    and if so, if it sells live or dead ones.

    Arlene - it is unlikely that anyone will adopt them until they've
    been checked out by a vet etc. All of us already have cats and
    can't afford to bring potentially sick ones into our houses.
       Nancy who has rehabilitated kitties in the past.

4111.11Same Situation Last SummerLEZAH::KARENKTue Oct 30 1990 12:0520
    I ran into this same situation last year. I work at MRO1 and found 4
    kittens. I couldn't get near them. Everytime I went near time they
    would run and hide. The mother cat eventually took them to another
    hiding place. I never saw the kittens or the mother cat again.

    I don't know if this is the same cat before that was having babies or
    not.

    There was someone in the MRO1 library who works at the Framingham
    Humane Society who was very helpful in trying to get the kittens
    trapped and off to a vet to get checked out.

    I don't remember her name, maybe someone else does.

    I hope you have better luck than I did. It is getting very cold out
    there.
