4108.0. "Sad to say." by FLOWER::BARBOSA () Thu Oct 25 1990 11:50
Hi,
I have been avoiding this for months now, but I am
sadden to say that I must give up my two cats or give up
some relatives and friends. The family and friends stays.
The problem: Allergies.
The cats are, a beautiful black persian female, and a
even more beautiful flame point Himalayan male. Both have
papers. The persian's name is Reyssa pronouced Reyz'a and the
himalayan's name is Caju. They both answer to the snap of
my fingers.
Reyssa, is pretty much independent, but loves to sleep by
my feet. She follows me every where, and she just loves to
be brushed on her terms. Caju, is pretty much a lap cat. If
there is a lap she wants to sleep on it. He doesn't just jump
on my lap, he sits by my feet until I slap my hand on my thigh.
Once he hears the slap; up he goes. Both cats are house cats,
they are never allowed outside.
They are both healthy and are seen by the vet regularly.
They are not old cats. both are only about 1 1/2 years old.
Hate to see them go but, I have made up my mind.
Please check with your family and friend for allergies first,
then if you are interested give me a call or send, mail to
FLOWER::BARBOSA.
Thanks

| My mother, sister and brother are all extremely allergic to cats. I'm
very happy that I don't share their allergies. {:^) The subect of
getting rid of my cats, has never come up. They know how much I love
my two furballs. They usually take an allergy pill before they come
over and they are fine for several hours.
My mother and sister were over one day last year and didn't take a
pill. When my husband came home, he thought they had both been crying
because their eyes were so bad.
I suppose it's a different story if you live at home and your family
is suffering.

| Wait! Before you get rid of anyone ... have you tried changing
the cat litter? My husband was very allergic to "Fresh Step" because
of the powder and scent that it emitted. When we changed to a litter
that was dust free (namely "Cat's Pride" in the RED bag) he was
fine.
If that step-on-emit-a-smell-litter was so hard on my husband, can
you imagine what it does to your cat?!
You may be allergic to litter and not the cat at all.
