4046.0. "Is your house kitty proof??" by WILLEE::MERRITT () Thu Oct 04 1990 09:23

Poor Mitsy last night ended up in a freak accident in the house.
Is your house Kitty Proof!!!! I doubt it!!

Mitsy is my sister 13 year old female cat...who is one big baby.
This cat is queen of the house and everyone bows when she walks by.
She has all humans and animals trained very well. Mitsy is very
petite and has very long hair which makes her look chubby...but
she is very small. Very active kitty for her age.

Last night she was sitting on the window sill in the bathroom.
When she decided to jump off of the sill her little paw got
tangled up in the blind cord. We heard this awful cry and we went
running... to find her hind legs on the floor, sitting straight up
with her paw still caught in the cord which was hanging about
three feet from the floor. The poor thing...

Well we helped her out of this position and checked her out and
she seems to be fine. Can you just imagine...if we weren't home,
or if the cord had caught her neck. Wow that's really scary.

Right when you think you have put everything away that they could
hurt themselves on....something like this happens. All cords in
the house were cut real short.

Why oh why do they always get themselves in predicaments.

I always keep my blind cords looped up high from the floor on a
little nail near the top of the window. It's not noticeable, but it
definately keeps the cats from getting tangled. And since I made it
a habit, I never forget to do it!

I also have the only blind cord looped up over the curtain rod, but
I did that because the kittens wouldn't leave it alone :-) I was
afraid they'd release the blinds and they would come down on their
    little heads!

.1 I agree it wasn't funny seeing her hanging...but after we made
sure she was okay....and the shock of what would of happened if
we weren't home...all went away. We couldn't stop laughing!!!
(especially because it was Mitsy and she thinks she's queen of the
jungle and her S*%@ don't smell.) Sorry Mitsy I had to say it!!
