3964.0. "HELP! Time Is Short!!" by WREATH::DROTTER () Thu Aug 30 1990 10:36

I have a friend who was adopted by a female stray on Monday.
Approx. 8-10 weeks old, all black w/ white paws, skinny from
starvation, but otherwise all right. (The skinny-ness is lovingly be
taken care of by my friend!).

This kitten is incredibly friendly, gentle, and petite. Unfortunately,
my friend lives in an apt. in Manchester, N.H. and cannot have pets.

I have 1 day to try and find a home for this lovable kitten,
before my friend is forced to take it to the animal shelter.
(friend is leaving for the Labor Day weekend, and won't be able
    to look after it).

The thought of giving it to the shelter bothers me - we all know what
    eventually happens to them there.

    CAN ANYBODY HELP??!!!

I cant take the kitty becuase I live in Texas, have one cat, and two
    adopted tom cats. But.....

There are other kinds of shelters that don't destroy the animals.
Operation Kindness is in the Dallas area. Can your friend hide the cat
for a couple of days, or can you? Tell the special shelter that its
an emergency, and perhaps you wont have to be on a long waiting list.

(they dont destroy, they keep them till they are given away)

If they must go to a shelter - I would recommend the Goffstown Animal
Hospital. They really try to find homes for their animals & to my
knowledge will not put any kittens down. No shelter is good (in my
eyes) - but some are better than others. A friend of mine pratically
    works there.
