I am setting up appointments this month to have my three girls get
their yearly boosters. Because of work, I will be making the
appointment for after five. My concern is, if there was to be a
reaction from the shots, would the side effects show up within the
first 12 hours. I'm worried about going to work the next day wondering
if they are doing okay at home. I live kinda far from work and it
would be difficult to drive home at lunch. They are 15 yrs., 3 yrs.,
and 2 yrs., and all in very good health & mischief!
Feeling a little bit paranoid,

I would imagine that they've all received at least one set of shots
already so if they did't react to those, I wouldn't expect any reaction
from the boosters. However, if there was to be a reaction it would
happen very quickly - within the first hour after the shots.
You might notice that the cats are a bit sluggish for a day after their
shots, that's normal. However, Dundee just got rabies & FLV and had no
reaction whatsoever and the kittens have now had two shots each with
no reaction at all.

My vet said that reactions to the feline leukemia shot should show up
within twenty minutes of the shot; by that I mean the rare severe
reactions where you need a vet instantly. Normally a cat will be
sluggish and sleepy to some extent for 12 to 24 hours after a leukemia
shot; if this lesser reaction persists longer than that, call the vet
to ask his advice because the cat can get dangerously dehydrated.
