3855.0. "School of Animal Science Degree" by CSSE::CST () Tue Jul 31 1990 14:35

Does anyone out there know anything about the ICS School of Animal
Science? I was curious and sent away for their info and got back a
bunch of literature describing the instruction packs etc. You are
supposed to get a certificate or career diploma in Animal Science.

My other thought would be to contact a veterinarian for their opinion.

It seems that this may be helpful with my catterie or even a part time
type position working with animals. The course seems to be rather
expensive and I wonder if practical experience is just as good?

    Thanks for any info sent!

I once took a course from them to get an electricians license and
found the material pretty ancient. Best ask them to produce a
sample of text. (a salesman will call!!) If you can tie into a
vet willing to teach you something, my intuition about no tuition,
the on the job training will be best. By the way I never got my
    real electricians license.

check with the local library on the school credentials. Many of these
schools are scams - reported extensively in 60 Minutes a few years back.
You want to be sure the school you pay will, in fact, provide an accredited
degree of some form. MANY will not.

A librarian can help you find out how you can find out if the school is
recognized and accredited as a technical training institution. Do not
rely on the fact that the gov't loans will pay for the tuition. That is
one thing that the piece in 60 Minutes made very clear....the government
will pay for junk.
