3818.0. "Another found kitty" by WECARE::GERMANN () Tue Jul 24 1990 10:40

    Why.....Why.....Why?????

In the neighborhood this weekend appeared a wonderful young female
cat/kitten. My guess is that she is under a year old - she is soooo
tiny. I'll bet she doesn't even weigh 5 pounds. The saddest part of
this is that she has recently had kittens - she is full of milk. I
don't even want to think about how she got to us or what has happened
    to her kittens!!

Anyway, I need to find a home for her before the man next door decides
to get rid of her some other way. I can't keep her - my 4 are more
than I can handle anyway. Michelle, next door, would keep her but her
father is a jerk. I have tried everyone around and so far no takers.

She is LOVELY. She is a tiny, light gold and white, long-haired
female with the biggest gold eyes I've ever seen in a kitty. She
loves to be held, sit in a lap, be petted. She isn't
afraid of anything - not even the LARGE dog (part Newfoundland, part
Golden) across the street. She is very playful and has this delightful
personality. Please, if you know anyone who would like her, contact
me. I want her to have a home soon. She is just too lovely to send to
    the humane society.

This lovely kitty is located in Manchester, NH. I will help get her
anywhere. I will help have her spayed. If you saw her, you'd never
    leave without her!!!

3818.1Check around areaDEMON::MURPHYTue Jul 24 1990 13:2449
Ellen,

Is there any chance her kittens might be outside nearby? Does she show
any signs of wanting to go out to find them? If you don't find she has
her kittens any longer, I wonder if she needs to receive something
(perhaps from Vet) to dry up the large quantity of milk in her. Some of
the other folks in this file who have had more experience in this may be
able to answer this question.

I would check around the neighborhood first just in case and then if you
can't keep her or find her a good home through this file, contact Kitty
Angels in Tyngsboro, MA. They are wonderful folks who help cats and
kittens and have been mentioned numerous times in this file.

Good luck.
Pat

3818.2Still hereWECARE::GERMANNTue Jul 31 1990 13:2428
Well, a week has gone by and the kitty is still with us. Of course,
what happens is that my 17 year old daughter, who would own every cat
in NH and all near-by states, has given her a name and is working very
hard at convincing me that "just one more" won't be much work.

We took this kitten, who has acquired the name "Madison", to the vet
yesterday. Her milk is all dried up and she is starting to put on
weight. She was the hit of the vet's office - everyone loved her and
remarked on her beautiful eyes. She, however, was not quite as taken
with the people there as they were with her...

She tested negative for FELV so has received her vaccination. Also
gave her the standard kitten shot. The vet guessed her age at 8 - 10
months. She had a good case of ear mites which he has started treating
and she was spayed this morning. We will be picking her up tomorrow.

This lovely kitten is Buff and White (according to the vet) and has a
tail that she carries like a flag. She is long-haired and sooooo
clean. She was most put out by the vet when he took the blood sample
for the FELV test. Not that she minded the needle, but he left some
blood on her fur and that REALLY displeased her!!!

Please, isn't there someone somewhere who would love this wonderful
kitten - before my heart gets too soft. You would never regret owning
her...and she comes with shots, spay, earmite medicine - all you could
    ever want in a kitty!!!

My previous reply left out some information that I wanted to include.

This kitten was kept outside since I didn't know her health status and
I was concerned for my cats. So, if her kittens were anywhere around,
she could have found them. However, she only wanted to stay on my
porch or run next door if Michelle was there. But boy did she race
back to me when Michelle's father arrived. Funny how animals have a
sense of people who treat them well and people who don't!!!

She had no problem with the milk drying up although I suspect that she
wasn't terribly comfortable during the time.

She is starting to put on weight and look like a real kitten now - her
fur even looks more even and full.

hmmmm, that was almost a month ago ... i wonder if you 'softened' or
if you found madison a home ;'} !?!?!?! .... welllllll????

she sounds beautiful and (being much like your daughter) i would love
to take her, BUT my hubby is more 'practical' ... our maine coon cat
rocky died a couple weeks ago and i thought that getting another kitty
to fill that hole would be a good idea, but since we aren't supposed
to have any cats dave disagrees ... so, now wanda is an only-child ...

so let us know about maddy ...

janice and wacky wanda (she's a real comedienne)

3818.5cat-max - ha!!!WECARE::GERMANNTue Sep 04 1990 12:2218
    Okay, since you asked............

Well, it looks like Madison has raised my cat-max to 5. How ever does
    this happen?!?!?

It is funny to watch the interactions of the other cats. Bitser, the
oldest of the tribe, has accepted her very well. Bob, the only male,
has decided that this house is only worth entering for food - too many
females, and this new one is just too pretty - she seems to be vying
for "most beautiful cat" status with Bob. Zelda cowers and growls at
the new kitten and won't enter any room she is in. Esmarelda hisses
and growls and then walks away. Madison keeps trying to play with each
of them. I didn catch Madison and Bob playing together outside, but
Bob stalked off when he caught me watching them!!!

She is a love, a delight, tiny and VERY affectionate.....
