those of us suffering allergies may find significant relief soon. An
article in the lastest prevention magazine is about an orally administered
treatment, much like the shots that attempt to build up the bodies acceptance
of the allergen, which is going into test by the FDA. Preliminary tests show
the treatment to be much more effective that the shots and it seems to
work in a matter of weeks rather than the year or more that the shots
take.
Initial treatments should be out there sometime in 1991, covering allergens
like cat dander, ragweed, and several other pollens. Additional allergens
will be covered in subsequent years.
