3747.1 | Perform has cut out options, alas | RHODES::GREENE | Catmax = Catmax + 1 | Tue Jun 26 1990 15:06 | 10 |
| Perform has cut back on the cat/kitten food size options. Darn.
I now have to open several small cans, as they have discontinued
the large kitten food cans.
And they discontinued the *small* kitten food bags. That is fine
with me, a breeder, but not so nice for the owner of a single kitty.
They had a clearance sale, with the small bags available by the
case for 40% of former price. I ordered *many* cases. The UPS
delivery person must not have been happy that day!

| I did call Science Diet about the C/D. I am now feeding it to both
Kalliste and Moody. Glad to hear that we can now buy it in 20lb
bags. I am about halfway through my last 8 pounder. Thanks for
the tip, I will be looking for it now.

Re: Discontinuation of SMALL kitten food bags.
I had to cancel my automatic distribution because of such a supply
of food. Bailey loves it, but the kid can only eat so much! My
concern is the freshness. I have every tupperware container I own
filled with Perform! The distribution would have worked with the
small bags, but there is just too much excess with the large.

| Awhile back CD stopped being available in small cans. Even with
three cats, this means the "second serving" sits in the fridge and gets
cold and unappetizing. Ugh. (I tried warming it up a little in
the microwave, but they wouldn't touch it.)

| re: .5 _ You might have made it too warm for them. Try just barely
taking the chill off. That's what I do for mine and they'll eat it.

RE: .0
The 8 lb bag lasts me about 3 weeks. If I got the 20 lb, it would last
7-8 weeks.... is that too long to have the food sitting around? In the
summer, the place where it is stored is 80 degrees.

| PERFORM called me to tell me about the sale. Call their 800
number and ask if they have any left.
As for storage times, the main thing is keeping it in an airtight
container. I use *huge* Rubbermaid sealed plastic containers.
And also those IAMS buckets that they were selling for $1 with a
purchase a year or two ago. (sure could use more of those!)
