3730.0. "Bull you cry......" by FILTON::GLOVER_P (Tangled Mothballs!!?) Thu Jun 21 1990 06:08

    Morning all....:-*)

Been busy in the U.K.for a while but a little story for a wet and
    windy Thursday morning....

Snuff & Tab have at last started to wander the garden/field on their
own, after various outing with the other cats, and have come across
many interesting and wonderful things( Isnt everything interesting
to kittens at 1st!) and yet one of the most potentially dangerous
turns out to be the funniest.....

The local farmer has put a herd of cows with one bull into the field
right next to our fence which facinates Snuff but scares the whatnot
out of Tab so shes keeps well away from them but not Snuff, cno
    sir....

Trying to call them in is never normally a task, until Snuff was
nowhere to be found and the worry sets in as she was the runt of
the litter and still only 13 weeks old, and about 4" at the shoulder.
    (Increase worry>100)

So off on the hunt for her yet again, around the garden, in the
greenhouse...you know how it goes...until I looked over the small
wooden fence and found this small delicate little ** walking
between the legs of the cows! Sniffing their legs, triny to grab
tails and then the crem de la crem(Or however u spell it..) the
bull looks down, right down, and sniffs Snuff! She went up on her
back legs and just sniffed him right back....(Owner feignts, falls
over.....) No harm done, she strolled back under the fence and had
    her supper.....

It could only happen to a cat.....

    Phil.

    Morning Phil,

It's a warm rainy morning over on this side of the pond too. I loved your
story...Little Snuff probably thought those were the biggest loudest
cats with horns she had ever seen!!! Maybe she thinks of them as her
    'pets'?

flap for the others to admire her kill.......

    Re. Phil...

Sounds perfectly normal to me!! I have one cat who was raised with a
litter of Bassett Hound puppies...to this day he still thinks he's a
dog...doesn't have much to do with the rest of the cats. He'd rather
hang around with the dogs! Another seems to think the dogs are HERS..
She'll come up on the couch when the biggest dog---80+ pounds and looks
like a Rottweiler---is there and proceed to wash his face for a
    half-hour or so...

I think this "size" thing is totally lost on cats. They are REALLY
    500 pound Tigers in kitten-clothes... Maybe the "Bull-kisser" you've
been elected to live with is looking for a "bodyguard"???

Snuff sounds like he is going to be a handful for you. I have a
1 year old kitty (Poco) who fears nothing! From day one I knew
she was going to be a handful...She is so nosey..and
gets herself into all kinds of trouble. I have to admit she hasn't
attempted a "cow"... Just wait until all the little "dead"
presents are left on your porch..

Snuff will keep on you your "toes"...worried when he doesn't come
home...and always wonderiong "what's next". Good Luck!!!

"Gee dad, look what followed me home, can I keep it?" :-)

    or-

"Is there room at the dinner table for one more?" :-)

re. a few ago - pulling a cow thru the cat flap...
I got home one afternoon last week to find Vanessa's new toy
sitting on the living room rug. "Nobody is going to believe this" I
said to self and got a tape measure and the Polaroid. After I measured
the carcass, Vanessa popped in and proceeded to bat the carcass around a
bit so I snapped the picture - It's hanging over my desk if anyone
wants to see - of my 12 lb cat and about a 4 lb 16" long squirrel. I'd
like to have seen her stuffing it thru the cat flap! - Chris
