| wow..my babies love to play with those little plastic things. I have
about ten of them laying around the house. Never realized it could
possibly harm one of them. Thanks for the comment...in the trash
they go.

| My Mittens loves to play with them too... I happend to notice that he
was chewing on the bands too. so in the trash they went. Now I let
him play with the plastic caps that snap on the top of the milk carten,
(after the bottle is emply, of course). He loves them too.. he rolls
them all around the place, like a little ball....

3684.3 | Then there are the plastic bags.... | SKULKR::SCOTT | | Fri Jun 08 1990 17:05 | 8 |
| Tequila likes to chew on/swallow plastic bags. We have to be very
careful what we leave around the house. Considering, almost everything
comes home from the store in a plastic bag, this is a big chore...
I never realized they'd eat the plastic milk rings. My three just
loves them. Especially Schnapps...she plays fetch with them.
Thanks for the warning.

3684.4 | Bags, Rings & Mousie Tails | SANFAN::FOSSATJU | | Fri Jun 08 1990 19:47 | 26 |
| My Pippin loves to chew/eat the plastic grocery bags and play with
the rings as well. Last night she tore one bag apart before I could
get to it, and she usually starts with this sneezing thing after
she's been chewing on one of these bags.
I'll have to supervise them playing with the container rings as
they all three like to play hockey with them on the kitchen floor.
The real probleml I'm having is with Stitch, he's been eating the
tails off the little fur mousies. He's broken into the mouse stash
and run off with said mouse between clenched teeth - scoots under
the bed and then ingests the tail - you should see what the rest
of the mouse looks like when he's done - we have to throw it out.
I guess I'll just have to de-tail the mice before I bring them in
the house - but then the little sucker probably won't want to play
with them.

| I de-tail, de-eye, de-ear and de-bell catnip mice before I give them
to my guys. The cats don't seem to care, and I don't have to worry
about them swallowing things.
If you get paper bags at the market, there aren't any plastic bags
to worry about. The markets out here carry paper even in the produce
section, because enough people have raised environmental concerns.

3684.6 | Eaters will eat anything | VIA::MEHRING | | Tue Jun 12 1990 17:12 | 18 |
| Of my two cat brothers, Ben & Jerry, Jerry is the "eater" of the two (they say,
if you own 2 cats, one will always be fatter than the other, and I see why now).
Jerry will try to eat just about anything -- although despite being a milk
ring maniac he hasn't tried to eat any of them yet.
...but, the other night while I was doing some spackling on the kitchen wall,
(I was sitting on the floor scanning for gauges and holes), Jerry snuck a lick
of *plaster* off my scraper!! Needless to say, he didn't enjoy the taste much -
he kept licking/chewing with a look of disgust on his face. I don't think he
ate enough to be harmful, but enough to learn not to go for the scraper again.
Another thing he tries to eat/chew is the metal tab at the end of the tape
measure. That can't be too comfortable for him, yet he always runs for it
whenever I get it out to measure something (like the wallpaper that was going
up after the spackling, etc.). I guess he just wanted to help with my project..

3684.7 | Must have tasted like fish . . . | SANDY::FRASER | Never try to outstubborn a cat. | Wed Jun 13 1990 09:59 | 15 |

Our resident gourmand, Tas, will take a test bite of almost anything.
The scariest time was when he bit down on a FISH HOOK that was in my
son's closet. By the time we got home, both cat and son were frantic.
I wrapped him up in a big bath towel and held tight while Andy snipped
the barb off with wire cutters. Then he was able to slip the hook out
without any further damage. We took him to the vet in the morning,
where Tas got a shot, but was pronounced ok - the hook hadn't damaged
anything, thank goodness!
All our cats play with the milk rings, but have apparently decided
that they're kinda limited as a food source. :^}
