The note on camping and kitties has brought to mind a topic I'd like to discuss: Harness and their effectivness. I know there are several noters who use harnesses and/or leashes for their kitties. What I am interested in is, can they escape? If not what type do you use. Are you afraid of them getting hung up on their own accord (supervised of course)? Any other comments?

Michelle - we use two types of harnesses. One is the figure 8 harnes and the other has a strap that goes around the neck, one around the body and one connecting the two loops along the back. We deliberately put the harnesses on a little loosely - tight enough so it stays in place, but loose enough so the cat can escape if necessary. Mao climbs trees, for example, and has managed to slip the harness after becomming entangled in the tree. I'm usually right there, but this particular day I had run upstairs for something. Learned my lesson, I did. Nancy |
