| I don't think so - I have one and 3 of my 4 kitties LOVE it! They get
pretty crazy and have never even come close to jumping onto the rod, so
my guess is you would be pretty safe here. Of course, the real danger
in my experience is being in the middle of 3 crazed kitties all trying
to get at it at once! I should have bought 2 or 3! :-)

Hadleigh House always has them at the shows for about $5. The
next show is 6/30-7/1 in Salem NH. You can also purchase replacement
strings and denim for $.50.
My kits love it.

| Rocky & Smokey have one. But this one has feathers at the end.
They go crazy, they think it's a bird. It's also very sturdy and
"the string" that the feathers are at the end of is made out of
soft suede. They love it!!

| Don't buy it! Make it!!!
Take a tomato stake, wrap so electrical tape around the
end to form a bump so that the string won't slide off, tie a
piece of good string to it about 3-4 feet long (I used some
nylon twine) and tie a piece of cloth about 4 inches by two
inches to the end of the string (sort of make the cloth look
like a bow tie by tieing it in a knot at the center and tieing
the string in the same place).
Doesn't look as elegant as the store bought one, but can
your cat really tell?? Your pocketbook can!

| The advantage to the commercial one is that the rod won't break
if your cat gets a good grip on the business end.
