3578.0. "Russian Blue - info needed" by AIMHI::UPTON () Mon May 07 1990 17:19

I've been THINKING of another kitty and I've seen pictures of
the Russian Blue's. It's exactly the color cat I want......
so now I need your help:

I've read a previous note posted a year ago about a Mrs. Ekengren
of Shady Ridge Kennel who breeds Russian Blue's. I'm looking for
a pet quality cat. It sounds like the personality and disposition
I would want in a cat. Since I have a 15 mth old Siamese Female
who is about 7 or 8 lbs., but has a mouth as large as a lion, I
    	definitely want a quiet kitty.

Anyone know about this breeder? Any other ones out there in the
Southern NH or close by Mass border.

Actually I would be happy with any all gray kitty. Note...MUST
be female and MUST be a baby. I finally want to pick and choose my
next cat. I've had years of strays, abused, lost and hunger cats,
please let me pick one this time that I want (believe me I loved
all those others, but it would be fun to choose instead of being
    	chosen - ).

    	-Thanks in advance.

    	-Dee

You might want to contact Pennie Greene, who participates in this
file and also breeds Russian Blues. She could probably help you
    find a kitten.

3578.2How about a "KORAT"?BOOVX1::MANDILETue May 08 1990 15:0810
If you like gray kitties, may I suggest you look into
the breed "Korats"? They are the most lovable, affectionate,
playful, loyal little guys (gals), with short, silver tipped
(gray) fur and green eyes. They *ADORE* people!!!

You are welcome to come visit my two to see what they are like.

    I'm in MA.

If you're looking for Korats talk to Holly Taylor who is a Feliner
but for Russian Blues definitely talk to Pennie Greene - I think her
vaxmail address is Glinka::Greene. I'm not sure about the e on the
    end of her last name.

New node for Pennie is RHODES::GREENE....

Pennie hasn't been around much this week, but I forwarded her the base
    note.

    Hi,

I have just sent a mail message to Dee (base noter).

Thanks for all the help getting her and me together. I don't have
that much time to note these days, and so I am often way behind!

I've got 2 (maybe 3?) pregnant females, so kittens are likely to
be available at the end of the summer. All of my currently available
catters are spoken for, but I *might* have a young spayed female
available along with the kittens next fall.

3578.6Is she a Russian Blue and how can I tell...WAGON::MOSSONWed Oct 10 1990 13:5314
    HI...

Yesterday I adopted a beautiful grey kitten from the Nashua Humane
Society. I came by work to show her off, and one of the woman I worked
with called her a Russian Blue.. wanted to know where I got her etc...
She said that I got myself quite a kitten...

Is there anyway to tell if she is or not??? It doesn't really matter..
she's beautiful and I love her.. but I was kind of curious...

    thanks,
    Kathleen

There is no way to tell.

Alot of people think that any shorthaired cat that is blue is a
Russian Blue. That isn't so. There was a very funny article written
about that in the Almanac a year or so ago. :^) I wish I could
remember which issue, I would copy it for you.

    Congratulations on your new kitten.

    	re: Kathy,

Although I don't know a whole heckuvalot about Russian Blues,
I *have* seen the kitten you adopted and I'm going to be bold
and say that she's too 'fuzzy' to be a Blue....they have very
short hair. Either way, she's a cutie! =)

    	Kathy,

my pleasure! When I see all those little faces I know that
my volunteer work is helping and it makes me feel great. And
when fellow FELINER's adopt the cuties it's even better!

My vet's technician rescued a Russian Blue look-a-like and adopted her out to
a wonderful family. Blueberry did very well in the household pet division of
the Nashua show a couple weeks ago, so you might want to consider that option.

There's something about those little blue babies.......no, the inn is FULL...
