3568.0. "NEED INFORMATION ON MAINE COON CATS" by HYEND::D_CRUZ () Fri May 04 1990 00:17

Molly is a tabby Maine Coon Cat, she is affectionate and gentle, we
are thinking of showing her; Does anyone have any information on her
breed I have been looking in books etc. and have not come up with much.
One source states that Coon cats are wild, that they have only one
litter a year, believe me she is not wild and is an indoor kitty. Any
    information will be appreciated.

                                             Thanks in advance,

                                                       Joanne

Joanne - Will you be showing Molly as an altered purebred (meaning you
have a pedigree) or as an "apparent" purebred?? I think you should
go to some catshows and talk to the Maine Coon breeders there.

We will be more than happy to help you with showing. In fact, there's
a show in Salem Mass on 6/30-7/1. Contact me if you want entry info.
    Hope to see you there.

Just so you know, any breed of cat is capable of having more than
one litter of kittens a year. Don't rely on this information for
planning your cats "parenthood". If allowed free access to a male,
she could easily have 6 litters a year!!
