The first litter has arrived! On the evening of April 3, Cattyshack's
Candy Cane (a.k.a. Candy) delivered 4 healthy kittens. Two red
tabbies (both male), a female Tortie and a female Brown Patched Tabby.
Don't know if they are longhaired or shorthaired yet. Their eyes will
be opening sometime this week.
Mom and babies doing fine! Grandmas Cin and Diane are basket cases....
but I guess that comes with the territory. Right, Cin?
Now Bailey (in San Francisco now) has some brothers and sisters!
Yeah!!
Will keep you updated on their progress!
Cin, now Stripees has only Tabitha, Noname, Cookie, and Little Fi to
wait for....right?
- Diane and Uncle Scottie (who doesn't understand why he's not
getting more attention now.....)

| Congratulations Diane!! Two red boys? Oh, no! Gotta keep my hands
in my pockets!
Also congrats to Scottie's wins last weekend. I am showing strictly
CFA now, as I would like to grand champion Murdock in that association.
The only CFF show I am definitely planning to attend is the Framingham
show in September. Maybe I'll see you there!
Good luck with the babies. Stripees is my favorite Exotic boy!

| Marlene, I told you about the Bailey who lives next door to me,
right? He's also one of Cindy's kids out of Fire and Muffin. I'll
have to send you a picture of him -- he's a cream tabby Exotic.
His registered name is Bailey's Irish Cream. He has such a laid
back personality. I'll have to take some pics of him and send them
along. I'm sure Karen, his human mommy, would like to see pictures
of your baby too!
These Exotics are really beginning to grow on me... oh, no, my inn
is full enough for now!

Watch out, Roberta! They certainly do grow on you and then you
want more! If I had a bigger place, I'd take half of Cin's
kittens!!! If there is one trait that Bailey has, it's "laid back".
I think it's the breed and the water at Cin's house..."cool is the
rule" in Fitchburg! :-)

is Stripees and Silly's Daughter.. and she looking more and more
like Stripees.. she even "sits like him.. Cin..ya know that
"laidback,, way he sits.. kinda on his side.. eyes half
closed.. it is amazing.. and she is such a sweet baby..
she is so laid .. well as laid back as a kitten can be
anyway.. giggle giggle..

| Babies, did someone say babies?? Cattyshack's Tiger Lily of EmacX
has decided that SHE wants some babies of her own! She is tired of
playing with Mardi Gras babies! Soooo, in the not too far distant
future, Miss Lil will be united with her first love and hopefully
some Lily babies will arrive! Seeing that Stripees is Lil's
half brother, and I think she resembles him somewhat, let's hope
that her babies also have that 'look' !! It's going to be a fun
spring!

| Gimme a break! Lil is a 'lady' of the best kind! Just cause she
is built like a boy, don't mean that she ain't no lady. Actually,
easy listenin' would work, or maybe something loud to cover the
noise! She can get mouthy at times. My Lil can have anything
her little heart desires! and she doesn't even have to ask.
I can hardly wait to see if Red Boy still loves her. It should
be a hoot!

| Whoops , befor I forget,, Cin, speaking of "mewsic",.. Preschie
apparently also has a fondness for it.. She has figured out
how to turn on the radio in the "quiet room". I do leave a radio
on for them during the day.. or at LEAST I thought I did.. I kept
coming home to a quiet apt, (sort of).. finally last
Friday nite I figured it out.. I was cleaning,, and I had the
radio on, in the :quiet room". and Preschie in..
the next thing I see, is that she is sitting
on the table in there,, paws warpped around the knobs on the radio..
swapping stations, adjusting the volume (UP only I might add).. the
next thing I know, she shut it off,, she hops down, meets up with Happy
in the hallway. and into the livingroom they go.. I followed thme..
and the next thing I know... they are playing with answering
machine.. .. and Preschie "turned on the TV with the remote
control..!!!. while Happy was yakking away at her.. Those 2 are
a real piece of work.. I might add that Daddy thought that was
just great.. his 2 little "princesses are soooooo smart.."..
Pookie on the other hand "was sound asleep".. hmm.. this must
have Happy's "shift" entertain the baby..!!!! tee-hee

For those of you who don't know who Cattyshack's Candy Cane (a.k.a.
Candy) is, let me explain. She is the daughter of the famous Great
Balls of Fire, who many of you have heard of or have met.
This notes file led me to Cin and we bought Candy from her in July
of 1988. She's a real sweetheart and is being a wonderful mom!
This is her second litter. She delivered very early last time and
only 1 of 5 kittens lived. Marlene has him (Bailey) in San Francisco.
Mom and new babies are doing just fine! They are noisey little
buggers when they eat, and boy, do they eat! She's being really good
with them. They get bigger as each day goes by.....eating like
piggies! (see .1 for colors and sexes)
We're taking weekly pictures to show their growth. They were one
week old yesterday! Their eyes were just starting to open this
morning. The girls' are more open than the boys'. Girls are always
more mature...... (Marlene, will send you some photos when they're
developed....)
I just love talking about them and can't wait to see them again!
I have trouble leaving them to come to work and then I can't wait
until I get home! All of you with previous litter experience will
know exactly what I mean.....
RE: .2 Thanks for the congrats! Why do you have your hands in your
pockets, Roberta? You'd really love an Exotic! Isn't there always
room for one more? And, thanks for Scottie's congrats!

You're right, Stripees and Candy sure do make beautiful babies.

RE: .5 Bailey's "laid back" trait may also be the well water at our
house, or a trait from his mom, as she's like that, too! Nothing to
hurry for when you're in the country..... Definitely different
from other breeds though!

| This is to announce another litter sired by Cattyshack's Tiger Stripes
aka Stripees!
Silver-Nuggetts Tabitha a silver tabby exotic shorthair gave birth to 7
kittens.
There are 3 Silver Tabbies, 2 Smokes (not sure if they're black or
shaded silvers yet), 1 Golden Tabby, and 1 Brown Tabby.
Mom and babies are doing just fine, and it won't be long before I can
tell if they will have long or short hair.
I'm sure there will be several kittens available, and the colors are
VERY unusual for Exotics.
Anyone interested can send me mail.

of the Silver Tabbies, there are 2 girls, and 1 boy, the Golden Tabby
is a girl, and the brown tabby is a boy, and there's one of each of the
smokes.
The color difference between the golden and brown is just incredible.

| The actual stripes are a slightly lighter brown, but the undercoat is a
warm cinnamon color, instead of the tannish. The color of the face is
also much lighter than the brown tabby.
Looks like a trip out to Cattyshack might be in order in a few weeks,

I also would like to see the golden tabby. I bet all of them are
just absoutely beautiful. I have to agree with everyone else,
Stripies is a gorgeous critter. I have two of his sons Teddy and Kai.
Kai is just the love of my life, Cin don't tell Michael that though,
he just might get upset (ha,ha).
Cin, if you are going to be home this week-end maybe I can talk
Michael into coming over and seeing the new beautiful babies. Let
me know off line ok.
Cin, I have to tell you a story that happen last night. Teddy just
happened to be in the bathrroom when I went in there so I started
patting him and Kai came in and came right over and practically
pushed Teddy out of the way and started licking my hand. I couldn't
beleive it. If I didn't know better I would swear that Kai was
jealous. Well, Cin as you know Teddy has become Michael's critter
and Kai is definetly mine. By the way they are both doing great.

| I got to see all these wonderful babies over the weekend. My favorite
part is the "musical mommies". One of the mommy-cats will nurse the
kittens for a while then climb out of the box, go have a nibble or
two then climb into a different box, settle down and start nursing
this group. It was great!!!
Of course, Stripees was totally unimpressed and kept asking "where's
the girls, mom?" and poor Max who didn't get to father any of the
kittens kept announcing "Its not fair!! When's my turn?!!"

| Actually, Nancy, Sweetie's babies are Max's.
So, since I'm here, let me give you an update.
Tabitha's 7 babies have grown their hair, so I now know I have 1
Longhair, and 6 Shorthairs...the Brown Tabby girl is the Longhair.
Sweetie's 4 babies are 2 Longhairs and 2 Shorthairs....Longhairs are
Cream and Blue Patched Tabby, and Shorthairs are Cream and Red Tabby.
Shorthairs are Boys, Longhairs are Girls.
Little Fi has 1 Tortie baby that's just a week old today....can't tell
if she's Long or Short yet.
Oh yeah, in Tabitha's litter, the Smokes are Black Smokes....
There are some unusual colors here that will be available. I'm keeping
the Silver Tabby girl, but the rest of Tabitha's litter will be
available for sale.

| It's been awhile, so time for an update. Candy's babies are 7 weeks old
now and their hair has grown. If you reference #2 - The female brown
patched tabby is really a tortie. The 2 female torties and one of the red
tabby boys are long-hair, with the other red tabby boy a short-hair.
They've had their first shots and are doing fine. They're just about
all weaned, going to Candy only once in awhile. She's glad to be done,
but gets angry when she meows and they ignore her. She tries to round
them up and they'll have none of it.
One of the female torties and the long-hair red tabby boy are for sale.
Anyone interested can contact me or Cin if you happen to be visiting her
and want one of these colors instead.

| I figured I'ld do a quick update on what's available for Cattyshack
kids!
The kittens are 6 1/2 and 5 1/2 weeks. Some of them have already been
reserved, but there are several kittens still available.
Currently available:
From Tabitha and Stripees litter of 7....there is 1 Black Smoke Female
still available.
From Sweetie and Max's litter, there are 4 kittens available....a blue
cream female SH, Red Tabby male SH, cream male SH, and cream female LH.
There are also 2 longhairs still available from Stripees and Candy's
litter....Diane Levin's kittens....contact either myself or Diane if
you are interested....available are a Tortie female, and Red Tabby
male.
Also, I am expecting a litter which may have White Exotics before the
end of the month.

(one of my slips.. she also has one of my bras.. as well.. ) well
the first "set" I gave her was "champaigne" colored.. we have graduated
from those colors to Black... the little dickens took my black
slip out of the laundry basket the oyther nite. And YES, I did ask
her to give it back,, and the kittychase ensued..that was Wednesday
nite around 7 pm.. by 7:15... I just figured OH well.. she can keep
it .. I will go buya new one..you should see her carry/drag it
around she makes bread on it..her and Happy have a kitty tug of
war..Hmm.. I wonder how much Happy paid her to get mummy 's slip..
She apparently also has a "bit of HRH tastes".. CHRISTAN DIOR..!!!!

| Cin... it is sooooooo cute.. she drags that stuff everywhere,, she

she takes a nap on it.... I was "laundering " her silkies"
and she was MAD..She was an absolute terror the entire time..
she knocked things off the coffee table,, emptied my purse out,
toook tissues out of the box.. she was furious.. Next time,,
I will launder it when she is sleeping or otherwise occupied..
it is hysterrically funny to walk in the door and see
3 furfaces,, Happy yakking,, I AM HUNGRY , FEEDME NOW,,
HRH... good evening mummy,, time for me to be groomed,, before
dinner,, and PRESCHIE RUNNING thru the house dragging
her "silky". WHEEEEEEEEEEE..She even hides it!!.. it usually
in the quiet room, or under the water bed.. Happy
had found it.. and was checking it out,, well Preschie
went bananas.. she BOPPED Happy a good one.. and of course
Happy BOPPED her Back,, and HRH bopped Happy for Bopping
"the BABY".. and whiel HRH and Happy are "squaring off"..
the little darling now has her "Silky".. and she is laying on it
kneading away and Purring...with that WHO ME ?.. LOOK on her
face.. look what good gilr I am mummy.. those 2 are fighting..!!Shame
shame.. Yeah right... I am sure
that Happy rues the day.. she taught Preschie about Silkys..!!!

Candy and Stripees' babies are now 9 weeks old. They're getting their
second shots this week. They're growing in leaps and bounds! And
they're SOOOOOO much fun now!
Two longhairs are still available - a Tortie female, and a Red Tabby male.
They will be at the Salem, MA show on June 30 only, if you'd like to see
them then, or contact me ahead of time if you'd like to stop by to see

is the Mom, so this is Stripees Niece) - 4 months old - all shots, FelV
tested negative and ready to go. Asking $200.00
Reservations being taken on the following younger kittens:
2 Red Tabby Longhair Males currently 9 weeks

1 White Exotic Female 7 weeks

| I should probably elaborate for those folks that don't know about
exotics. They resemble a persian in every way except the coat length.
They have a shorter coat than a persian, but can in no way be construed
as short, like a siamese. The coat is more medium in length, and is
thick and plushy.
The longhairs look exactly like a persian in every way ... the only way
you can tell an Exotic Longhair from a persian is by looking at the
pedigree.

| Oh yeah, I almost forgot....I also have:
2 Red Tabby Exotic males that are Stripees sons, and Fire's
grandchildren. These kittens are almost 4 weeks old.
Also, since the subject of breeding and kittens has come up several
times very recently in the past few months. I want to stress that at
Cattyshack, we breed for quality and type. So far this year, the above
litter is the only litter that there hasn't been at least one show or
breeder quality kitten produced in the litter. So, there will be many
of Stripees kittens making babies next year.

I've seen these gorgeous creatures! Was very difficult to
leave Cin's without a couple stuffed in my pockets.

| Hmm.. I know J.J. it is hard to leave Cattyshack without stuffing
your pockets..er um I mean..well you know what I mean.. heh-heh..
now let me see what do I have to wear that would have 8 pockets,,
er um I mean that would be comfortable to hug kitties with..
and would not be detected during kittycheck,,,,
