    I know this is the CATS notefile, but I think I ought to place a
    little memorial to one of Oliver's little friends - the long-suffering
    dog next door, Susie.
    
    Susie was terrorised by both my cats; first Kayleigh, then Oliver.
    I even saw her give up a STEAK to Kayleigh, on demand!! Both cats
    took over Susie's territory and 'protected' it from the other cats
    in the area. Gradually, they became friendly with her and played
    with her when they came into her garden, although she WOULD make
    a show of growling and barking if any other cats were near, just
    so they wouldn't think she'd gone soft!
            
    Susie unfortunately suffered from an allergy and had to have regular
    injections - she couldn't stand freshly cut grass, for example,
    and sometimes scratched herself so much she would bleed.
    
    On Tuesday the vet advised our neighbours to put her down, and I think 
    it was for the best, although they are very upset about it.
    
    Oliver is going to miss her - she really was a cat's ideal dog!

    Susie's name has been added to the Silver Lining Memorial List.
    If you like, I'll send you a copy of the letters when they go out
    (very soon) and you can show your neighbors.
