3484.0. "What's a Mother to Do? Oh Grandma Mary??" by TOPDOC::TRACHMAN (Exotic Babies are soooo Cute) Tue Apr 03 1990 16:24

I need HELP badly! Help, Help, Help.

The babies are starting to really get CUTE - their eyes are open
and they are trying to get up on their little legs, they purrrr,
they are fat and fuzzy, with little pink mouthes and noses, except
for the bluecream girl, little pink toes, they have upright ears
and FACES ! Then they line up with mom like fuzzy baby ducks:
cream, bluecream, cream, red, cream. Or, Red, Cream,Cream,Cream,Blue.
Then they wake up (of course I don't wake them, much) take their
little arms and throw them over their heads and yawn and stretch
until I could croak! If I scratch their tummies, they tip their
chins up so I can scratch under their chins. sigh, I'm a gonner !

Isn't there a prayer that a breed can repeat every twenty minutes
that make you resistant to these wonderful babies? I am starting
to favor one - am I sunk yet, or is there time to save me ???

I keep saying, The Inn is Full, The Inn is Full, The Inn is Full,
    but it isn't working.

Likely story, E.T. We know you planned this from the beginning.
How many is that now, 23?

Ha, what's that suposed to mean you guys????

"As Expected" - Linda, shall we discuss it this weekend in Weston
    over din-din and drinks???

Mardi Gras is starting to talk to them and discipline them a little!
It's a hoot - they get fisty when she bathes them and if they make
her mad, she gives them the whatfor !! Unreal, they are soooo cute!
They take their little paws and put them over their eyes - then last
night, two of them started grooming themselves! I couldn't believe
that! I can hardly wait until they start washing their own faces!

I'm gettin' weaker by the day !!

The only question, Elaine, is HOW MANY are you going to keep?

If you restrict yourself to 1, then that is a real accomplishment!

I will have to add little Danish Pastry soon...

3484.6Sweeties! TOPDOC::TRACHMANExotic Babies are soooo CuteWed Apr 04 1990 10:1514
Keep it up, with the sending them out the door! I'll probably not
let these guys go until they are ready for Cat Show College!

How many I'll keep? Idunno, depends on how nice they are,
depends on if the owner of the stud decides she wants one,
depends, depends, depends. Maybe a boy and a girl - I would
like to have 3 girls. That would almost be ok to keep a boy -
then if Lil has a nice girl, 4 would be even better for one
    boy. depends depends etc.

They really are sooo cute - they look at me with those big round
blue eyes! They purrrr and love to be patted. They weigh 1/2
lb each and have such short legs, that they topple over when they
try and stand up! Really funny and FUN.
3484.7Oh, you beautiful dolls....BOOVX2::MANDILEWed Apr 04 1990 10:358

3484.8I Held up until they opened their big round eyes!TOPDOC::TRACHMANExotic Babies are soooo CuteWed Apr 04 1990 11:2534
Ha, I did this morning, hug them, that is. Made me 15 minutes later
than usual - mom had fed them breakfast, and they were awake and
not screaming - just looking around like baby seals - heads up
eyes open - lordy, they looked like stuffed baby bears! Round
    and roly poly!

Ya know, these babes are wonderful, but what am I gonna do when
Lily has her babies? She's ' a piece of work ' - probably the
cutest shorthaired baby girl in the world (just a mother's opinion
of course), can you imagine what her babies will look like after
she is bred to a red persian boy that is VERY VERY sweet and cute!

If I think I'm in trouble now ................. with Lil's litter,
it will be ALL over !!

To keep things in persepective, I've never seen a litter born, never
handled kittens this young, never watched them grow. I always get
them when they are anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks old. So, try and bear
with me and all my firsts! I'm probably still a whole bunch ga ga
over this whole thing! I think that when I stop being ga ga, maybe
that's when it's time to get out of the business of breeding cats!
I always said, that when I stop getting a REAL thrill out of seeing
MY cat on the judging table being judged, or get an unreal thrill out
of seeing a ribbon hung on MY cat's cage, that, too, is a GOOD reason
to get out of the 'business.'

Silly this may sound, but I told Cindy at the last show, that I will
be sad when Lily Grands - she is such a pleasure to show and such
fun to be with for the weekend, that I will miss taking her out so
much. She's such a dream to show! Both Lil and Katenka have
entertained lots of folks. Sorry to run on....grandmotherhood does
strange things to us human folks! Thanks for listening!

cats with stripes, with green eyes!

Yes, Kate, you have! From what I head this redheaded boy will
be around The Inn for a while - in fact, he will probably help
Lily take care of 'their children' !! He is Lil's first love!
Or Lil is his first love! I can hardly wait to see what happens
when they meet again. Ha, as if I dun't know - silly me !

Well, the little red boy climbed out the box last night, and I didn't
help him at all. He's a piece of work! I was sitting on the floor
with my knee up against the box, he put his front paws up, made it
up to the rim of the jumbo litter box, pulled his fat body up, reached
over with one paw to see what was there, and just pulled himself out
on to my knee. He then decided to walk about on the floor and see
what there was to see while his mother was having a hissy fit in
the box, counting heads. I put him back, and his mom really gave
him the whatfor! Not bad for a 15 day old baby boy! His body
is so short that he is as fat as he is long! He is up on his legs
already - guess I"d better bring home a bigger and deeper box tonight!

3484.16EmacX Hello Dolly went over the wall !!TOPDOC::TRACHMANExotic Babies are soooo CuteThu May 17 1990 16:4630
Mary, have I got a story for you! These five little flatfaces are
something else. They move faster than lightening, and I can't even
    catch them any more.

I still don't believe this one, myself. I got up one morning about
2 days ago, went out to the kitchen, and on my way down a very short
hallway, met up with a little cream girl, by the name of Hello Dolly.
(Yeah, I named one, ya so !! - one one) - anyway, I was a little taken
aback a bit, but reacted, scooped her up, and put her back in the
bedroom (they have now graduated from the master bathroom to both
the master bathroom and my bedroom) - didn't think too much of this
until a short while later I found the wicker basket on the floor by
the door to my bedroom. I wondered how it came of the wall up by
the ceiling where it was hung. I couldn't believe what I was thinking
but knew it was true - that little cream monkey climbed up the entire
screen door, went up and over the top, knocked the basket down that
was hung over the middle of the door frame, and then climbed down the
other side and escaped out to the great room. unreal . I had let
Mardi Gras spend the night out of the room (she's weaning them and
is nursing them much less often) - guess she must have found the
baby and kept an eye on her for the night until I found her in the
morning. I had to nail linolium squares on the door about a foot
from the bottom so they now can't climb up the hardware cloth.
I really thought I was careless when I found her on the other side
of the wall - but I count heads each time I go in or out of the room.
These babes are really something else! I still can't believe she did
it! And the little red boy was next in line right behind her until I
    blocked their escape route!

It is exactly like being a foster parent. One of my little ones
licked and nibbled on my fingers the other day, and as I told Linda,
I have fallen completely head over heels for her! Just hope she
is good enough to keep. At least I got the sex right this time
    (female).

After several years of doing this, I still cry when they go. :^(

    Ah, I didn't cry, I didn't cry, I didn't cry !!!! I swore I wouldn't
do that! When the little red monkey was on the way out the door,
sitting in a huge crate, right in the middle of it, looking up
with these HUGE eyes, I almost lost it, but didn't !! I guess it's
nice to make other people very happy, and know that the babies are
going to GREAT homes. That helps a lot!

3484.22Introduction: "Here's Sunny" ref .19SALEM::DILLONIt's never to lateMon Jun 04 1990 22:0642
Hi this is Diane, Michael, Teddy, Kai and our new fuzzy critter "Presley's
Rising Sun", nickname "Sunny".
He is a red mackle short-hair exotic. We got him from E.T. (EmacX Cattery)
1 week ago on Sunday.

Let us tell you a couple of funny stories since we received our beautiful
new baby. When "Sunny" first arrived home, Teddy and Kai were very upset,
they did not like the idea of someone else coming in on there territory.
But Sunny ignored all the boo's, hisses and dirty looks that he received
from these guys and made himself right at home.

It took more then a few day for Teddy to except the little munchkin but
it only took my precious Kai one day and he and Sunny were good friends.
But now that a whole week has gone by all three of our babies are good
buddies. Although I have to say that Kai and Sunny play alot more then
Teddy and Sunny they all get along just fine.

Sunny is eating and sleeping just fine. We kept him in our room the first
few nights but then he wanted to be roaming around the house with his big
brothers.

In our cat playroom we have this 3 1/2 foot scratch post. While Michael
and I were sitting watching t.v., the 5th day that we had Sunny he climbed
up to the top of the scratch post. Well, Michael and I just sat their in
total disbelief because the other two did not climb this post for at least
3 weeks after we got them. Michael got nervous when Sunny started meowing
to get down, so he took him down. The next night Sunny climbed up again,
this time Michael did not take him down. Sunny to our surprise did not
jump but climbed down the same way he climbed up. Now remember Sunny is
only 11 weeks old and can fit in the palm of your hand. He just loves to
play with all the toys we have for our babies.

So now Michael and I have three beautiful short-hair exotic persians, a
Chocolate Brown, a White and a Red Tabby.

We are very, very happy with all of them. I have taken quite alot of
pictures of them all. Cindy and Elaine, I will be sending you both some
very soon when we get them back.

All of us will keep in touch, keep puuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuring.

Diane, Michael, Teddy, Kai and Sunny
