Re. Note 3284.14

Picked up one of these cuties Saturday morning; he's sooo tiny. None of
my cats were ever that small when I got them; not even D.P. when I found
him. He's one of the classic silver & white tabby boys that Tony had.
It was very difficult to leave with just "one" of these adorable babies
but figured it would be easier for my crew of big cats to adjust to one new
baby.

Took time watching them at play and holding them, before I made my final
decision. When I held him he snuggled right up in my arms and didn't cry
nor try to get down. I've decided to name him "Jamie" as I thought that's
a nice Scottish name for the lad. :-)

Now, my adult cats have been pretty good accepting this tiny tot; just
your normal growling or hissing when he started to come too near or thought
he could play with their tails. The biggest plus is "Thai"; he had become
Jamie's Uncle, Papa, Mama, & Best Friend by Saturday evening. He washes,
plays with, calls to, and sleeps with Jamie. Thai has taken Jamie under
his "paw" and now has a constant shadow. ;-)

    Pat,

    Congratulations on your new addition. He sounds beautiful! Are you
    planning on showing him?

    Oooh Pat...I am jealous! Your new baby sounds absolutely precious.

    I want a new kitten so badly - but now the scuttlebutt I have heard is
    that I shouldn't have 3 (I have two already) but 4....keep the numbers
    even so that two don't gang up on the third. My Otis has been sick
    so I want to nurse him back to health before taking on another kitty.

    I do love hearing about the latest adoptions - so please keep us
    posted. Congratulations and all the best.

    Thanks, Paula. He is beautiful and "oh those big wistful eyes".
    I do hope to eventually show him in HHP classes but we'll have to wait
    and see how he'd like it. Would love to show Thai but I know he
    wouldn't stand for all the handling of the judges.

3479.4You're doing right to waitSTAR::PMURPHYThe Paws That Refresh!Mon Apr 02 1990 13:506
    Thanks, Marilyn. I've been reading your updates on Otis and I do hope
    he gets better soon. You are doing the right thing to wait until he's
    well before bringing in a new baby.

    Congratulations!!

    No, Roberta, he is one of the straight-earred babies Tony has for
    adoption.

3479.7Pretty smart for his ageSTAR::PMURPHYThe Paws That Refresh!Mon Apr 09 1990 13:4522
    Jamie is sooooo adorable. It just took him the third day with us to
    learn this trick. At feeding times when all his "Uncles" and his
    "Aunt" are walking about impatiently looking for their meals, Jamie
    sits at the refrigerator door and paws at it while meowing and looking
    up at me. Of course, all the grown up cats know where the food is
    kept but he decided to remind me where it was (in case I forgot). For
    an 8 week old baby, he's pretty smart I think. ;-)

    All of my adult cats have totally accepted Jamie and seem to know he is
    just a baby and can get away with quite a bit with them. From chasing
    their tails and eating out of their dishes with whichever one he likes,
    to actually grabbing onto D.P.'s hind leg and hanging on as D.P. tries
    to keep walking. All they do is pin him down and start washing him.

    When Jamie and his Uncle "D" and Uncle "Thai" start playing, it is
    hilarious to watch; whether it's a game of tag or tackling a ferocious
    toy mouse.

3479.8CRUISE::NDCPutiput Scottish Folds - DTN: 297-2313Tue Apr 10 1990 09:045
    Must be a fold trait, Pat. My crew let Bonnie B Bitten get away
    with everything, including climbing into the cat bed on top of the
    present occupant.
      Love those folds!!

3479.9It's all in funSTAR::PMURPHYThe Paws That Refresh!Tue Apr 10 1990 13:267
    I think you're right, Nancy, about it being a fold trait. He's also
    discovered out of the 5 adult cats, D.P. is the easiest and best one to
    tackle; either by grabbing a leg, his tail, or just rearing up and
    leaping with paws wrapped around D.P.'s neck. D.P. seems to like the
    extra attention he gets from Jamie and it's all in fun, he knows, from
    bringing up "Velvet Thai". ;-)
