In my opinon, cats have personalitys just like people do. Eveyone
is different. I have 2 cats, and they are as different as night and
day!
Chammie is the QUEEN of the house. I'm the only one who can touch her
eveyone elese gets a scratch and a hiss. I have to pick her up and
give her,,her food or she wont eat.
Carmel..loves eveyone! and she will ask for her food..and I know what
you mean about the cookies...when we put the popcorn in the microwave
Carmel will sit in fount of it and wait for the popcorn..then she will
follow you where ever you go w/ the bowl..Chammie could care less.
My Carmel also drinks out of the dogs bowl..she wont touch her water
bowl..and Chammie refuses to drink water..only milk.
When my friends come over..they look for Charmel..becasue she is just
like a human..but Chammie will always be my baby...

3465.2 | I know EXACTLY! | MEMIT::MISSELHORN | | Wed Mar 28 1990 14:38 | 30 |
| I know EXACTLY what you mean! And, our Brittany is one of them.
And, I also know what you mean when you say you can't describe it.
All I know is that there is something about Brittany that is
different. It's not just us either that notices it--almost
everyone who comes to visit comments on her. Part of it is
that she never lost that "kitten" appearance--she just looks like
a slightly larger kitten. (She is on the petite side anyway.)
She certainly is one of the cutest cats that I've ever seen.
But, it's really more than that. And, as much as I love Melody
and Missy, Brittany is just, "special".
One thing, (and I've never said this to anyone), is that there
is something inside me that tells me that Brittany may not be
with us as long as the others. Call it intuition or whatever,
and I hope to H*** that I'm wrong, but it's there. When I read
that poem that was posted about the kitten in heaven, I cried
and thought about Brittany. And, I've called her "Angel Kitty"
for almost as long as we've had her.
Funny that this subject came up today because just this morning
I said to her, "Brittany, you are a typical "Cats" (as in the
play or book by T. S. Eliot) cat.
And, that about summed her up!

Yeah....it's not that they "DO" anything that other cats DON'T do,
but when these "supercats" do something, it's the WAY they do it that
seems to stand out.. I realize that if you haven't experienced one of
these "special" kittens, you won't really know what we're talking
about. Like...Cookie can simply walk through the room...and it's like
the Queen of England has been there...

3465.4 | ah yes, my dancing lady... | FORTSC::WILDE | Ask yourself..am I a happy cow? | Fri Mar 30 1990 14:16 | 19 |
| Oh yeah....the minute Hannah looked at me I knew she was different...she
had been through three homes and noone wanted to keep her - but when she
came to our house she was HOME. She immediately settled in with the
other cats and moved into my room and bathroom as her domain. She also
immediately became Nickie's "protector" - he is at the bottom of the
pecking order and Hannah doesn't let anyone else bug him.
It's wierd, but everyone notices her "difference" ....even my friends
who aren't particularly "cat lovers" (a cat/dog hater could never be
my friend, but I do have friends who don't live with cats). Sometimes
when I'm working in the kitchen or reading, Hannah will walk into the
room and call out to me with a "question" in her voice...sorta like,
"what's happening?" and I have the strangest sensation that she is
much more than a cat. I can't explain it, but she truly acts as
if she is my equal, and friend, much more than my cat or "child".
The closest I can come to describing it is that Hannah seems like
she hasn't ALWAYS been a cat - perhaps a "gypsy" in a past life?
This cat can make you wonder about reincarnation.....

| I call it presence. When Pippin walks into a room every one knows
it. The other two have their wonderful ways and romp and play like
boys do and get the immediate attention of who ever is there, but
when that special lady enters the room ....... well what can ya
say but .. what a special kittie!!!

Yes, we have one too. Her name is Sable, cause that's what she
looks like. She's a lover and the only one to come whenever you
call. The others come when they "feel" like it. Sable has to always
sleep with us and she talks to me all the time. She's usually the
first to greet me at the door (after the dog is done jumping and
wiggling); and has to be in the bathroom when one of us takes a
shower.
She really has an aura about her and lets us know when she's around.
My lap is usually not empty for long and sometimes she's so quiet
when climbing into your lap, that it takes a minute or two to realize
that she's there...unless she wants ATTENTION --NOW mommy!!! Then
it doesn't matter what you're doing, she wants to be rubbed. I
got woken up with a cold, wet nose and whiskers the other morning--
whereupon Sable looked at me and said "Oh, mommy! Are you *awake*???"
mumble mumble d**n "oh, in that case, you can pet me now!!"
She also gets very indignant if she is left on the enclosed porch
for too long (5 minutes in cold weather!), and rushes through the
door all the time "yelling" at me--meewww, meewww, meewww. Meaning,
"How *dare* you leave me out there that long!!?? Didn't you know
I could freeze or starve to death??!!" But she forgives quickly
and comes over to talk to me a few minutes later. She loves high
places and I suspect that she would be a tree climber if she were
let outside, so one of her favorite places is on top of the tv in
the bedroom which is on top of a high dresser.
She's such a love, and obviously my favorite one of the five that
we have. Don't tell the other four, they'll never let me forget
it!!
Debbi & Sable, Jasper, Momma Kitty, Duchess and Isis --oh, and
Nikki too! (can't forget the "puppy")

3465.7 | Attack Cats | ELMAGO::RSTOLL | If it ain't one thing, it's another | Mon Apr 09 1990 17:08 | 19 |
| This event happened over the weekend. I got to share it with other
cat-lovers.
I have two cats, Rocky & Smokey. Seeing that the weather was nice
over the weekend, (I work at DEC in Albuquerque) I decided to leave
the front door open so the "kids" could go in and out when they
wanted to. Well, all of the sudden, I heard this comotion by the
front door and saw this Dalmation dog heading for the door with
the kids sitting there. Before I got there, Rocky had already ran
up to the dog hissing and growling. Well, while Rocky was getting
his attention, Smokey came up from behind the dog and let him have
it with a couple swats. Then they chased the dog away running
*sidewards* with their backs up and their fur standing out. The
dog took off like a bat out of hell. It was the most funniest thing.
And Smokey is such a wimp, I was really surprised at her. Does
anyone else have any "Attack Cats"
