3458.0. "what about FROMM's dry food" by ISLNDS::BARRETT () Mon Mar 26 1990 16:22

    Hi,

    Trying to come up with some alternatives to IAMS I recently tried
    FROMM brand dry cat food for my cats. The ingrediants appear to
    be the same, based on whats on the label. Anybody got any plusses
    or minuses to share about Fromms??

    Thanks

    Fromms is a terrific food, according to my cats that is! It is
    also natural, and must be stored in an airtight container to retain
    it's freshness. The biggest plus about Fromm's is the price; a
    20 lb bag costs less than $20.  I believe I paid $17 at Farmer's
    Exchange.

    All five of my guys were happy with the Fromm's. We just ran out,
    and I would not hesitate to purchase it again.

    I too agree that Fromm is a great food....beware though that the
    protien/fat content is pretty high and it may tend to put extra
    weight on some cats. I have had to limit my two but otherwise have
    had no problems. My cats wont touch the canned Fromm.

3458.3My Vet thought Fromms was great!MIVC::MTAGTue Mar 27 1990 17:1311
    Hi. I just brought my boys to the vet this past Saturday and gave the
    vet an empty bag of Fromms. She was unfamiliar with it, but when she
    read the ingredients and mineral (phosphorus/magnesium) levels, she was
    very impressed. She said to go right on feeding it to my cats. They
    actually like it better than the Iams. I am presently getting it in
    Westford in a new pet store called PETS PETS PETS. The first bag I
    bought was $1.75 for 5lbs!!! However, their normal price for 5lbs is
    $5.45 plus tax. I forget what the cost is for 20lbs.

    Just be careful about using canned Fromms cat food. I had mine on that
    until D.P. developed his urinary problem and my vet said it is not on
    his list of cat foods low in magnesium so I had to switch all to
    Science Diet (canned and dry) and luckily they love it. Recently put
    them on the Science Diet Lite and they seem to like it just as much as
    regular.

    My five cats just LOVE Fromm! When I first brought a few sample
    bags home, I was surprised at how quickly was eaten! I've been
    buying it ever since in the 5lb bags. My Maurice just about jumps
    in the bin (that I keep it in) when I refresh their bowls, he's
    so eager to have some!
