3380.0. "Found in Maynard - Sweet black tom" by GEMVAX::CICCOLINI () Fri Mar 02 1990 09:01

On the Maynard-Stow line, while looking for a shortcut from work to
home one lunchtime, in the middle of nowhere, I discovered a sweet,
lovable black male cat with white paws just crying away. Being the
animal lover I am, I got out of the car and and talked to the cat who
approached me cautiously. Soon, he was cuddling with me like I was the
last person on earth. I left, went the grocery store and returned
with a box of Friskies. Watching him wolf them down, I knew he was
lost or abandoned. I returned every day at lunch and fed him and the
Friday night before the snowstorm last week, I took him home.

Is anyone missing this absolute love of a male cat? He's about
3-5 years old, black with 4 white paws, and a battle scarred ear.
My Siamese, Chablis, is none to thrilled with loosing her 16 year
topcat status even though the new arrival is non-aggressive and appears
very grateful for a bowl of food and a warm lap.

I can't turn him away but I'd love to find a loving home for this guy.
He's not yet neutered but he's not a sprayer. He's the most laid back
cat I've ever seen. I'll worm him, because he needs it now, but he'll
need shots and neutering soon. Send me mail if you'd like to meet this
    sweetie.

I don't know if it's the same cat, but there's a sign posted closeby
the Cumberland Farms on Route 27 proclaiming LOST CAT, and when
driving by, the description seems not that dissimilar. If you go
that way, coming from Acton, the sign's just past Concord Street
to the right (_just_ beyond the tip of the triangular island).

The cat sounds like a sweetie.

    Good luck to you both.

If it is their cat, do the cat a big favor and neuter him before
    you return him.
      Thanks for taking him in.

Have you checked the local papers for lost ads? (Sounds to me like
you have a new baby.... There are lots of notes in here about
helping the previous feline residents of hte house adjust....)

rte 27 is too far away from where I found this little sweetie.
And I think this tale has a sad end. Max likes to spend a lot of his
time outside. But the last time he went out, he never came back.
It's been about 4-5 days now. I am sure he didn't get lost, since
he has returned after 2 days. He knows tons of food and hugs are
available at my house. I think he got into trouble. And I fear
it may have something to do with the lake which has been partially
frozen due to the warm weather. I tried to help the cat and
instead, I may have delivered him to a painful death. I guess I can't
help that, though. And I'll probably continue to be unable to turn my
back on a needy animal. Sigh.

You still deserve thanks for helping as much as you did.

You said he's unneutered. Well, this is mating season and he
may very well be off wandering around doing what whole males
do at this time of the year. I hope that's all it is.
