Oh, you lucky human, you.
My beloved (and long departed) Malcolm was like that. Loved
anything to do with water. Showers, baths, you name it. I'd love
a feline pal to share the morning with me.
The current group are all curious, but aren't much on taking
up the offer. Sneakers is the closest. He'll come to the side
of the tub, grab hold with both fronts, and look in while I bathe.
Occasionally I'll pick him up and let him wander around on the
"dry" part of my belly and legs, but he doesn;t really want to soak
down. The other two (Smoke and Nova) are also curious, but if I
pick 'em up, they start to panic. Too bad.
Consider yourself lucky.

| funny that you bring this up. verne has once again started showering
with me too. when the twins were young i lived at a condo where we
had the shower in the tub with a curtain. there actually was two
curtains and both shirl and verne would love the mornings cuz they got
to stand in between the curtains and jump at the drops on the other
side. it was very funny and when i moved into a home with a shower
stall they waited patiently on the toilet cover for me to get out.
(boy was it funny the day that verne jumped up to the toilet and the
cover wasn't shut!) (smile at the thought of it)
(my babies have never been one for shut doors. they shutter at the
thought of mom in the bathroom without them. really. they have even got
a way to get out of rooms that we shut them into. it was a big problem
too where i used to live. verne would lay down and put his front paws
under the door space and shirl would get up on my nightstand and with
her front paws (standing on her hind legs) she would scratch at the door
knob so it would move and alas, verne would pull at the bottom of the
door and wha la! instant door opening...)
anyways... i have since moved again and am back with the shower
curtain. this time we only have one curtain though. boy was verne
surprized when he started walking on the edge of the tub and got hit
with water. still though ... he loves it and so do i. i love the
company. if only shirl would join us too.

| Heaven forbid if we close the bathroom door! Four very upset kitties
would be sitting outside, with very huffy attitudes!
My husband shaves in the morning with two at his feet, one on the
closed hopper, and one on the sink. It's Shave, push cats head
out of way of running water, rinse shaver, Shave, push cats head,
etc.
At shower time, it's one curled up in front of the heater, two peeking
at you through the curtain, and one on the hopper. (closed or open!)
Close them out, and the scratching and knocking at the door drives
you nuts!
Oh, to be loved! Isn't it wonderful!!!!!!!

| you know, yesterday verne started sitting in the sink while mom was in
the bathroom cleaning. at first he started to scratch and i was
worried that he was thinking 'kitty litter' but he didn't... he just
curled around it and meowed. i can't wait to see the pictures.

I cannot go to the bathroom or any room, for that matter, by myself. I
have an escort wherever I go. Escho likes to poke at the shower
curtain, sleep on the towels or go in & out of the bathroom while one of
us is in the shower. If there are any soap bubble left to play with,
she likes to attack and pounce on them viciously until they retreat down
the drain.
Brandy on the other hand (or is that paw?), likes to jump up on the
sink and give me head butts while I'm on "the throne." Then he
proceeds to tap everything, one at a time, off the sink or into it. He
likes to play with the water too. Got some great pictures of him
standing on the toilet, leaning on the sink playing with the running
water. Or he'll sit or lie down on the sink. It gets kind of rough
when he keeps sticking his head right in the middle of the sink while
you TRY to spit the toothpaste out. His timing is impecable, I've
almost choked attempting not to hit him between the ears.
In the warm weather Escho likes to hang out in the flower box (sans
plantlife) that's on the bathroom window and will occasionally serenade
me with her version of "harp music" (plinking the screen).
I've had two cats that actually got in the tub with me! Harry was so
laid back that once I gave him a bath in a 5 gallon water bucket (for
my horse). He just sat there hanging his paws over the side. He
didn't even try to get away.
What a crew!!

| Kai & Blackie
Well, I have to get my two cents in here too. I too have company
in the morning. Blackie gets up on the tub but will not jump in.
Kai on the other hand lays over the heat vent on the floor. Both
of them just sit there until I am done. Its so funny to watch
them. Then they just either sit there or walk all around me while
I am putting on my makeup and doing my hair.
I tryed closing the door once and they stood outside the door and
meowed and meowed and meowed. They didn't like that. Now I just
keep the door opened and let them do there thing.
Then my husband gets up and go downstairs and they hear the can-opener
and they run like h___. Breakfast is served.
They are such a joy, we love them so much.

| Is the same Kai AND Blackie that Cin Gery visited before coming
to see Pookie , Happy and Precious. this has to be a CATTYSHACK
Family trait.. cuz Precious does the same thing..!!!!!!,
she also took a shower with her Daddy Saturday nite..he was
er umm, "amused". I also suspect she was taking pictures
at the same time.. cuz on sadi she would not get out of the
tub.. he tried everything.. she had the biggest tantrum....
so Mumy wnet in dried her off.. and I "thought "
all was well.. when I heard a small ruckus in the bathroom.. to find
Don "trying to Precious out of the tub again, and Happy sitting
on the sink talking a blue streak, and HRH,, STAANDING UP ON HER HIND
LEGS, watching DADDY trying to catch Precious in the bath tub..and
giving him the most filthy looks... of course I was trying very hard
to keepa straight face,, HAHAHAAAAA

3360.10 | MOM, let us HELP | BRAT::GERMANN | | Wed Mar 07 1990 10:07 | 25 |
| gee, I've got a couple of these shower kitties, too. We laughed so
hard when we discovered that Zelda liked to be with any of us when we
are showering. She doesn't come into the tub until after we are done,
but she sits on the edge. Well, she has taught Esmarelda that this is
fun (actually, those two teach each other all sorts of fun things!!!!)
So, now when I open the shower curtain in the morning, there are 2 sets
of kitty eyes staring at me, one copper and one grey. Essy sits on the
tank of the toilet, Zelda on the floor. They both jump in the tub to
inspect the drain - making sure all the water is gone and the
appropriate gurgle is heard.
Essy then leaves for snuggling with my youngest son - under the covers.
Zelda, however, wanders back and forth across the vanity, which has 2
sinks. She will sit in the sink I don't use, watch the water, get
under me when I brush my teeth (it took a couple of weeks for the
toothpaste to wear off her shiney black fur last time she got in the
wrong place at the wrong time). the funniest part is when I put my
contact lenses in. I usually put a washcloth over the drain so if I
drop a lens it won't go down. She doesn't like that and will reach
right in a move the cloth from over the drain!!!
What would a morning be like without all this help?!?!?

| Ah Yes.. contac lens!!!!.. Precious seems to like my case..
one nite,.. I accdentally left the case on the counter of the vanity..
(lens inside soaking.. ) Happy was on the sofa resting.. Pookie
was sitting with me helping me read my book.. when Happy sat up
straight. after I heard thid little meow.. took off down the hall,
then Pookie took off.. (after I heard the mummy meow.) I thought ..
how nice.. they are taking care of their "baby together".. thenI
heard "other noises.." I go up to investigate,, Precshie had my
lens case and was "enteraining her sisters with her world
famous juggling act, and Happy was trying to "help her".. Pookie
was watching with an amused expression on her face.. I panicked
and did retrieve (eventually) the case... I now put them in a
very high place. Preschie was not happy and Happy was not happy
when I took "their entertainment " away.. and Pookie was
in a "snit. cuz I said no to the baby...
