3358.0. "Anyone want a cat?" by SUBURB::GLOVERP (Mothballs and Tanglefoot) Wed Feb 21 1990 08:37

Now,how about some advise from you good people without all of you
    thinking I'm heartless?

This 'ere ginger tom has decided to take up residence in my dear
old mums garage. Its a stray without a doubt and no-one was really
bothered that it wants to live there, after all,its been pouring
down with rain lately and it hasn't been much bother until the last
    couple of days.

Last night I woke up sometime during the night to hear a godalmighty
fight going on on THE LANDING of all places. It seems 'ol Tom had
not only come in the cat flap to eat the crews food but had walked
on up the stairs to investigate. My lot went mad!

Its not a bad looking cat but really (So I thought) Shy.What am
I supposed to do with it? If the crew really get hold of this cat
they'll kill it,and we cant keep feeding it otherwise its not going
to go and I cant not feed it in case the cats starves and snuffs
    it.

    So,how about some collective thoughts.

Well, Phil, if it were my situation I'd:
      1. give it its own food in the garage so it doesn't have to come
indoors and try to steal from the "terrible trio".

      2. Get it to the vets, get it its shots, get it neutered and find
    it a home.

      You asked......

3358.2What? another cat!!......BOOVX2::MANDILEWed Feb 21 1990 08:5121
    Phil,
you are obviously not heartless as you have been feeding the stray
tom. Suggestions or advice? Don't really have any, other than
catch the guy and take him to a shelter. He seems to have been
allowed to hang out by your other cats. They only get ticked off
when he trespasses to close to the main territory. Of course, if
it was me, I would now have an outdoor cat. I'm a sucker for a
starving waif, I wouldn't have the heart. If you or your mom can
afford to feed another, my motto is, "The more the merrier!", or
what the He-l-l, whats one more!

I just wish I could take all the unwanted strays. I still have
the one dumped off at Christmastime! My hubby has been pretty
good about her spending the past 6 +/- weeks in our den.

It is your decision, though. Whatever you do is not anyone elses
business, as tough of a decision as it is.

    Ok.
I'll keep letting it stay in the garage, and let it have the ,ahem,
schneeky amount of food(dont forget its not my house and as much
as my mother likes catsI cat make decisions fo her....yet...;-)

If I can get it to the vets I will, but seeing as I'm between Reading
and Bristol for a bit its hard to be in any one place for a while.

Oh well,I know whats going to happen.

Looks more like welcome to the fold "scrappy"

    my life!

    Phil,
If this guy's going to be in contact with the "terrible trio"
it would be wise, for more than just the tom's sake, to make
sure he's healthy and up on shots.

Good idea Nancy, this will be one of those occasions that time will
    have to be made?

Anyway Nancy, whats up with you today? Not one hint of humor do I
    detect in your notes.

drastic action could be called for..............now,whats that DTN?

Boy, do I know how you feel except all mine are females. my three
babies are all in-door only kittys and the stray is a female
indoor-outdoor kitty. The *discussions* and the *confrontations* are
    sometimes very loud and *hairy*.

I have the word *sucker* imprinted on my forehead. Besides, I couldn't
leave her out in the terrible snowstorm (especially when she practically
    jumped right into my arms.

Hey, at least you guys wait for the cats to come to you! You
don't go out in the winter cold with cans of cat food and a
    fishnet!!

Phil, Sorry for being so serious today. Guess i'm a little
tired. I've got four out of 10 cats on medication - 3 of the
four are on two types. Now I know why Tony decided to give up
    breeding  :-}

Of course, on the good side, there's a Bertucci's opening in
Braintree tonight and Jack and I are going there for supper on
Thursday. For those of you who have never heard of Bertucci's
they have Brick oven Pizza - OUTSTANDING!!

Lucky you, to have a ginger pussycat. I'm sure having everybody of
neutering age neutered will calm things down a bit; it takes awhile
after that for the "hormones to dissipate" and then you're into normal
    introducing a new cat hysteria.
