I have 3 Cats: Nicki is 11 years old and is ALPHA Animal
Jonathan and Joshua are 1 1/2 year old litter mates.
One pup 10 months old, approx 65 - 70 lbs.
My question is, will the boys (J & J) ever defend themselves?
My pup tends to be clumsy and steps on the little guys now and then,
and plays too rough to trust her alone with them. These 2 little
ones have never shown any aggressive behavior. (All cats are indoor)
Nicki, on the other hand (was declawed as a kitten), could back off
a gorilla!

I would think that J and J would either defend themselves against
the pup, or learn to stay out of the pup's way. I have a 5 month
old, 50+ pound puppy, and I let her play with my 11 week old kittens,
but only when supervised. She is fine with the older cats. The
kittens are pretty quick and usually get out of her way when she
starts stomping around, but I just want to be safe. I don't worry
about the dog and the adult cats. The cats let her know when she
is out of line. It only took one swat for her to figure out that
they meant business.

PS - to previous reply.
I will be wiling to bet that the declawed one is more aggressive
*because* he is declawed. He knows that he must come across as
ferocious, since when it comes right down to it, he can't back up
the threats. Sounds like he has learned the art of "bluffing" very
well. :^)

.1,.2 Alpha animal is not only ferocious, she has been known to bite
when aggravated (when giving her medication, etc.).
Just hope that J&J don't get hurt by accident.....
