| | I agree with you on the "convienience" terminology. I
have allergies & asthma, but I also have 5 cats, 2 rabbits
and a horse. I didn't let these illnesses stand in my way, so why
does everyone use this as an "excuse" to get rid of unwanted
    pets?

| | ELLIE (the owners once thought he was a she) is neutered, I would
guess his weight at more than 10 but less than 15 lbs, has lived
with one other cat (which they gave to relative in Colorado) and
got along with their Germ.Shep dog (which was put to sleep because
of old age), they also have a 2yr old so he doesn't seem fearful
of kids, he's mostly black with some white under the chin, he is
put out of doors most days but seems just as happy indoors when
I've taken him on weekends (while they went to the Cape).

| | I tried my cousin who would love a Maine Coon, but she said she would
prefer a kitten to a 9 year old cat. Oh well.

You might try calling Dr. Anita Migday at Slade Vet. Hospital in
Framingham... 508-875-7086. I know she and her husband (Dr. Kaplan of
McGrath Animal Hospital) were looking for a Maine Coon last
    Fall/Winter. I'm not sure if they'd be interested, but it's worth a
    shot. He sounds beautiful.

I'd take him, but my husband (with the allergies) says 3 is enough. If
I brought home another cat, I'd be single again.

    Hi!

Has he been adopted yet??? I might be interested. I have one Maine
Coon now, and I love their temperament. Send me some e-mail if he's
    still available.

    Thanks!

| | Watch out for offering money like that. I hope they know whoever
takes the cat - or its a Feliner. I'm sure I'm beginning to sound
like a broken record, but you've GOT to watch out for folks taking
the cat for research! It is my understanding, from various things
I've read from PETA etc, that these creeps get about $25-$30 per
animal so asking $25 makes it unprofitable for them to take your
    cat.
Also, there's always the possiblity that someone will take the
cat just to get the money and then dump the cat.

Perhaps a better way would be to offer to reimburse the first $50
of vet bills. You could find out what vet they will be using and
send the vet $50 to have on account as a credit. That way the
money would have to be used to care for the cat.
