I saw that on the news too. I haven't heard anything about a rescue
though. I hope they announce it!! I think the kitty's name is Baby.

| The report we saw the MASPCA had exhausted all avenues to get this
poor cat. They had checked all the sewers and drains, and nothing.
My question is why did the woman who owned the cat wait a week before
she called them?
Terrible cold weather at the time and he had not been feed in a
week, unless these are rodents down there for him to catch.
The story ended with the MASPCA putting traps down in the sewers/
drains in hopes of catching him.

I saw that also. I wonder why they didn't follow up on the story.
Is he still down there? I hope not. I don't see why they couldn't
get him in a trap. They said the woman was putting down a can of tuna
a day and he was eating it. Put the trap there with the tuna in it.

| Gee I feel like I must be out of it!!! I live in Fitchburg and I
hadn't heard about this story until this note. If someone has a little
more info, like the name of the owner, I'll do a little investigation.

| I also saw the story on the news. It looked like she lived in a Mobile
Home Park across from some large bldgs & looked like it was right down
town. I hope she got him out. I think I would have demanded to go in
myself.

| It's not clear to me exactly how this cat is trapped -- can a nearby
feliner attempt a rescue?

3200.7 | Let's see...... | WOODRO::IVES | | Sun Jan 07 1990 15:43 | 19 |
| Let's see if I can remember what happened.
The cat was missing for a week and the woman kept going outside
and calling it, and then heard it cry from the sewer. She reported
it and then the MASPCA took action by prying up the manhole covers
and going down there and inspected all the drains where they could
fit. The woman was quite large so don't think she would have fit
into any of these places. The weather at this time was like 2 degress
above 0 during the day with the wind chill factor from the wind
it must have been 20-30 below 0, and at night the temperature dropped
to 10-15 below 0. The poor people looked so cold trying to do their
job and find that kitty, and then thinking of how cold that cat
must have been, the whole situation was awful.
Anyone live in that area who could call and find out what happened,
or call the news papers and have them make a follow up under human
interest stories?

| HI,
I heard the story on the radio, I'm almost positive it was WAAF
Worcestor, believe it or not. It was around 8:00 a.m. two weeks ago
last Wednesday.
They must get their news from the same place the tv news does,
where is their source..? I wonder if the police would know..?

| We saw the TV broadcast on the evening news from channel 7. It must
have been on for at least 5 minutes. They were not stingy with there
air time.
