3192.0. "Neura Dry Cat Food?" by MICLUS::MTAG () Tue Jan 02 1990 16:05

    A while ago, there was a note on Neura (?) cat food and that it is
    comparable to Iams and Science Diet. I went to Eriksons today at lunch
    thinking they had it in dry food, but did not. They said it only comes
    in cans. Is this true? If it is available in dry food, any
    suggestions on where I can pick it up?

    Also, does Neura come in a diet variety? Barney and Gonezo need to
    watch their waistlines.

    Thanks,
    Mary

    Neura (made by Old Mother Hbbard in Lowell) expects to have a dry
    product in about 12 to 18 months. They do have have a "diet"
    variety in canned food. See note 3077 for more details

    Thanks Deb. I couldn't remember where the note was. The guy at
    Eriksons didn't indicate to me that a dry cat food would be available;
    however, I don't think I asked either. The cans do cost about $1.00 as
    you indicated in note 3077.

    Just as an FYI, I have tried the Neura for dogs and had terrible luck
    with it. My dogs lost alot of weight, had terrible diarrhea and lost
    all shine to their coats. I kept them on it for over a month thinking
    that it wasn't the food but possibly a virus running through the
    kennel. I then spoke to several other breeders who also tried this
    supposedly wonderful food that did not contain Ethoxyquin. They all
    had the same results with their dogs. I changed mine back to their
    original food and they are back to gaining weight and their old selves
    again.

    I have no desire to try it with my cats. Let us know if you try it and
    like it.

    My sister gave the cats a sample of Neura dry for Christmas. She
    got it at Boston Pet in Waltham.
