Hi all, I was wondering if anyone had/has a cat with pancreatitis. Bigfoot has had two bouts this year, and is at least 11 years old (probably older). My vet seems to think it isn't too much of a problem; so I guess I'm just trying to get reassurance ;-) ;-) ;-) . So, does anyone out there have (or have had) a cat with this? Do they go through these bouts often? Bigfoot's on R/D to keep the fat level lower and orders of no table scraps, at least until his retest. What does fat have to do with the pancreas (thanks for the explanation, Nancy, but I'm afraid I didn't do too well understanding it ... was never good at biology, chemistry, etc. ;-) )? Will this shorten his life? Might he become diabetic? I will probably bombard the vet with these questions next week when we go in for the retest, but until then I just wanted some "personal experience" information. Thanks so much! - Andrea

I only know about the problem in humans. A friend of mine had it, and had to go from many brews and other spirits (he was a Brit, and loved his bitter) to NO alcohol on fear of excruciating pain and, eventually, death. So, my only input is to keep the kit away from the liquor cabinet 8') Gary |
