| Have you posted "found cat" notes in the area where
you found her, and put a found ad in the local paper, just in
case she belongs to someone?

| Do not put too much info about what she looks like. Find some
unique feature that only the real owner would know. That way you
can be sure she goes to her real home and not to some sicky!
re: catmax - maybe if you tell her story you'll get permission to
hang on to her a bit longer. We always thought catmax was 4
and we're currently at 6. And boy am I glad we brought Jesse in.

3108.7 | kitten! | VMSSPT::LEMBREE | Just do it. | Tue Dec 05 1989 15:17 | 13 |
| The kitten is a she-kitty. My friend nick-named her Casper (or
CatsPurr!) for the time being. My coon cat is named "Gremlin", but we
call him "Big Cat", and my other is "Spot", but he also goes by "Little Cat".
"Really Little Cat" just didn't fit the kitten, although I found myself calling
her that from time to time! Her fur is medium...not short, and not long, but
very very soft! I went into her room this morning to log on and she found my
foot a nice pillow, so she snuggled up against it and fell asleep. I felt
like a big meanie when I logged out and left the room!
The night we found her we drove around and around trying to find her
home or owner, but to no avail. We hope that if her owners are looking for her,
they'll call the Humane Society.

3108.8 | maybe they do just name themselves | WR2FOR::CORDESBRO_JO | set home/cat_max=infinity | Tue Dec 05 1989 15:33 | 11 |
| Bob, I solved the "Really Little Cat" name problem once, I called
my kitten LTK, short for Little Tiny Kitten. She was sold to another
breeder who changed her name to Lisa, but the cat never got used
to that. Several months later, I brought her back to my house,
and she immediately answered to LTK. Once spayed, I placed her
in a very nice pet home, and explained the name thing to the new
owners. They said, no problem, and registered her as Lady TeeKay,
and still call her LTK. She apparently liked the nickname as much
as I did.

to pass DingBat Fleet of Feet, Jolio (sp), and ISHE IZUZU first !
Tight competition this season in HHP-land.

3108.11 | one of the worst experiences ever | MLTVAX::MATHERS | Another woman for peace. | Tue Dec 05 1989 19:13 | 18 |
| Hi,
I am the unfortunate person who took the basenote kitty
to the vet tonight. The ending is very sad. The kitty
was beyond rescue. She was extremely enemic, and the
vet was 95% sure she had feline leukemia. She started
convulsing earlier tonight and got to the point where
she couldn't stand up. The vet felt that she wouldn't
make it through the night.
I never did this before, but had to sign the papers to
put her down. What a sad feeling in the pit of my stomach.
Sorry to the people who were looking to adopt her.
Thanks,
Barb

the end... She sounded like such a little love.

| Barb,
I'm so sorry to hear about Casper. She was a cutie! It's too bad that
she had to be put down. At least she had lots of love before hand and
now she no longer has to suffer (if she was). From what I hear it is
painful although she didn't look like she was in any pain.
I hope someone was with you after going through that!
Take care- don't let this discourage you from having another animal in
the future. They are worth the pain you go through!
Much sympathy...

| Thanks for the notes. It was incredibly hard. I can only
imagine how much harder it would be if she had been a long-term
pet.
To add insult to injury, the vet charged me $54 for the office
visit, the euthenasia, and the cremation! Unreal. I was in
no shape to complain since I was fighting back tears until I
got to my car. I would have still taken her had I known though.
I can't believe how people in this world can throw a poor little
animal out in the cold like that. :-(

| It seems to me, that whoever was her owner befor knew about her
health problems; and left her on the side of the road. People
like that should not be allowed to sleep peacefully.
