3085.0. "Elaine, is this how it all gets started??" by CLUSTA::TAMIR (ACMS design while-u-wait) Mon Nov 27 1989 13:47

OK, I can't stand it any longer. This must be how Elaine got
    started...

Introducing Robin, The Girl Wonder. She is a rehabilitated feral baby
that I've been trying to domesticate all summer and fall. Well, she's
now so domesticated that she runs when she hears a can open (my vet,
after whom Robin is named, says it's genetic), has better box habits
than my very domestic purebred Himalayans, is absolutely in love with
her cardboard scratching post (thanks, Roberta!!), and wants nothing
better in this world to sleep in my arms while making muffins on my
shoulder. The vet says she's amazingly healthy, except for the odd
flea and a case of worms. She's white and black, has green eyes, and
her nose is black, which looks cute on her mostly white face. She came
with a couple extra toes for extra traction.

She's not much for playing, as she's never had much time to be a
kitten. We think she's just 6 months old, but she acts very grown up.
I guess if you had a childhood like hers, you'd be grown up, too.

Oh, and there's one other thing......

she just might be pregnant.....NNNNOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We'll
find out more on Wednesday when she goes back for another checkup.
There will be a few pictures of her at the Ming Garden on Wednesday...

,,,Good Grief..I will have to let Pookie know that there may be need
for her Pookie Punch(patent still pending, these "things take time)..
.. and of course, she will want to consult with the new mom,
on the nursery decor... of course as of late, she has been quite
"busy with her 2 mousies.. tee-hee. Yay Mary..

3085.4Get this cat some REAL toys!CLUSTA::TAMIRACMS design while-u-waitTue Nov 28 1989 12:0220
OK, it's time for a cute kitten story...

Since Robin had such a deprived childhood, she doesn't know too much
about being a kitten and doing kitten things. Julie, on the other had,
has no brain and is a perpetual kitten. Last night, Julie grabbed a
twist tie and brought it over to Robin. She dropped it on the floor
and swatted it around, trying to give Robin the general idea. Well,
Robin just sat there while Julie would bat it to her, take it back, and
bat it again. She never did catch on. Then I had a bright idea...as a
baby she used to play with outdoor toys, so I went out into the snow,
found a piece of bark on the ground and a twig and brought them in.
Next thing I knew, Robin was swatting the twig to Julie, and they
played together for the first time. What a breakthru.... If Julie
teaches Robin how to climb the drapes, I kill her....

Oh, BTW, I'll find out tomorrow if she's 'with child'. I really don't
want to go thru this again, even with Pookie's decorating advice!

    (Hopefully not Grandma) Mary

3085.5That's really neat!CUPMK::TRACHMANExotic Shorthairs=NO GroomingTue Nov 28 1989 12:1121
That's great, Mary! Robin sounds like a doll.
Sounds like Julie likes having a sister to play with. What other
    tricks can Julie teach her?

Robin & ChowLee(Charlie) ought to get together. When I brought him
in the house, he had no idea how to play either. He spent
lots of time watching. He is now just getting used to being
hugged and kissed and rubbed and scratched. He really is a
very very sweet boy. Loves being hugged now and will roll
over on his back for a tummy scratch! He lived outside for
2 years before I found him - the interesting thing is that
he doesn't even go near any door leading to the outside. I
find that so amazing - he could care less about going out.
Guess he knows a good thing when he has it !! I probably
should have found a good home for him, but, he was sooo
sweet and nice and I was afraid that if he got outside
he would try and come back to his old home grounds around
my house and get hurt or something. You know how it is.....
Besides, his fur is sooo soft, like bunny fur!! and he has
a pink nose! I'm a real sucker for pink noses and white fur
    and green eyes.
3085.6consulting services...AIMHI::MCCURDYTue Nov 28 1989 12:494
Now Mary, you know how Pookie loves to "consult " on these matters..
she really enjoyed her last assignment with Meggie.. tee hee
    regards
    Kate
3085.7Sorry, Pookie....maybe next time!CLUSTA::TAMIRACMS design while-u-waitThu Nov 30 1989 21:2711
And now for the good news:

Robin is NOT pregnant and tested negative for feline leukemia!!! She
got her first shots and will be spayed on the 12th (I'm in London
next week and want to be home with her). My vet (also named Robin)
recommened removing the inner claw on each foot, so that will be done,
    too.

Now if I could only get her to be a kitten and play more often...

    Mary

HMMM..Gee Mary Pookie is going to be disappointed.. she does so like
to engage in "Consulting"..as matter of fact, I heard her talking with
her Lawyer, indicating that they should try to resolve the "Patent
issue, surrounding "her feline famous Pookie Punch'(her words).. tee
-hee.. my best ot he "kids".. and welcome to Robin,,
    Regards
