INTRODUCING OLIVER AKA OLILUV
Oliver is approximately 6 years old. I'm not sure of his years as
I found this wonderful beautiful animal at the animal shelter.
He is a domestic long hair, gray striped (sort of) with big round
green eyes. It is absolutely lovely.
I had lost my Nickolaus after 19 years and was so sad and unhappy.
I began looking at kittens in pet shops but I was numb and they
did not stir my heart at all. This was frightening as I have always
reacted to kittens and cats. My thoughts were, will I never love
another cat? On one day out, we made a late stop at the shelter.
It was almost closing time. We looked at the cats and kittens
and my special someone spotted a litter of tiny kittens, but again
...nothing... I looked at a cage just a little above my head, and
saw a big white cat. He had the meanest eyes. As I looked at him
from underneath his stomach came this gray head with the biggest
roundest, kindest, lovingest eyes I have ever seen in a cat. The
keeper there said his name was Oliver and that he had been there
for some time. He was called Oliver because he was an orphan.
She let me hold him. I didn't wasnt to rush into adopting him
and they were closing, so we left.
The next day was Monday, and I sat at work and thought about him.
I decided that he was exacetly the cat that I wanted and could love.
I called the shelter and they told me that they close at 5:30.
Well I couldn't make it there in time to pick him up and I really
was afraid he would be gone if I waited too long. I called my son
and asked him to go to the shelter and described Oliver to him.
I then called the shelter and told them my son would be there.
Oh! what a happy day! I couldn't wait to get home.
There is so much more, but this is already very long.
One last thing is that I feel that the Lord had numbed my
feelings until I found Oliver and I thank Him.

Flo -
Bumpy-tail was my "healing" kitty. I understand exactly what
you were feeing. I met Bumpy the night I brought Kathryn's
body into the Boston Animal Shelter. I couldn't bring Bumpy
home that night - was just too soon, but I went back two days
later. Bumpy healed my pain and gave me someone to love instead
of locking it all up inside of me.
It makes them extra-extra-special....

I too understand what you were feeling. I had Ting-ling for 18
years and then was left cat-less for all of one week. Pippin came
into our lives then - from the SPCA and managed to fill that horrible
void and ease the pain - I know Ting put his paw in this one - and
now we have three - all because of him.
Congratulations on Oliver - he sounds wonderful

Max was my healer. After I lost my 3 cats to leukemia, I waited
a few weeks, and went to the shelter and there was Max. He has a
personality closest to my beloved Ruby, who was 19 before he passed
away from the leuk. Ruby had been my "lover cat" if you will and now
Max has filled that special void. No cat can ever "replace" another,
as each is a unique individual, but they are such a joy. Now I have
6 cats, each filling a void that was there when Ruby, Tabby, and Noella
passed away. I guess I just need lots of cats!
But, I know what you mean about it being the right time, and the right
cat. Something, maybe Ruby?, told me it was time to go the shelter,
that there would be someone special there, and there was.
