| Gino was probably dreaming of chasing mice, or some other such things.
It seems coincidental that it happened around the time of you sneezing
and stuff. Some cats will twitch their paws and swish their tails
during dreams in addition to the chatter.

| I think sometimes, sounds get incorporated into kitties dreams, just
like they do for us. My Tabby, who is in kitty heaven now, used to do
that. Sometimes, he'd be fast asleep and I'd make a noise and he'd
respond although he was definately still asleep. If I made cat sounds,
like fighting cats, he would wail in his dream, twitching about.
Sometimes, if I was cooking, I guess he could smell it in his dreams,
he would make eating motions with his mouth, body twitching
as if he was really enjoying a tasty kill.

| He probably is having a real good dream for himself - but it's just
that he goes off to sleep real fast and he's always in the same
position. His head does sort of vibrate a little when he responds
to the sneezing noise - it's just a real hoot to watch.
My other two do make sounds while they're sleeping - Pippin can
snore to wake the dead and she'll also trill - Stitch sighs a lot.

| According to our vet, cats are very alert, even while they are
sleeping. They will react, she says, to sound and smell, and are
capable of waking instantly. (We tried this out by passing a plate
of sardines under Oliver's nose - it works!!!)
They don't seem to need the morning cup of strong coffee to get
them going, like we lesser beings do.

I agree. It's amazing how certain sounds can bring them out of
a dead sleep.
The opening of the frig or freezer door and the rustling of paper
a certain way brings all three charging into the kitchen fully awake
and awaiting a treat of shrimp. And they will sit there patiently
until the shrimp thaws out.
Wish I could wake up like that!

2997.6 | converses in her sleep | THE780::WILDE | Ask yourself..am I a happy cow? | Tue Oct 31 1989 19:20 | 6 |
| Everytime I sneeze Hannah says "Bless You" - or whatever she is saying
when I sneeze...asleep or awake. She doesn't say anything when other
people sneeze, but she always responds to me with a little warble..
a pause...and another chitter. It is really a unique sound. She also
will call to me during the night and if I touch her, she is obviously
waking up...if I talk to her she will talk back...but she is asleep.

| Barney doesn't talk in his sleep, but instead he SNORES! I don't know
how many times my husband or myself had awaken during the night to
tell the other to stop snoring, and it was Barney all along!

| Yep, Loki snores too, probably 'cause he's pre-asthmatic. And my
husband has asthma too! I remember one night waking up and hearing not
only my husband snoring, but Loki and even Bigfoot snoring too!!! When
you're outnumbered 3 to 1, there's not much hope. I really should
invest in a pair of earplugs ... :-)

| I know exactly what you mean - and sometimes when all three are
on the bed it sounds like a 3-part harmony - one snoring, one sighing
and the other doing a combination of who knows what. My husband
has gotten an elbow more than once because I thought it was coming
from him (the favor was also returned)

| I think my poor Jezebel has bad dreams. She will sometimes wake
up and let out a string of crys/whimpers and come running onto my
lap. If she falls asleep with the other two around her and then
wakes up alone she crys also and then walks through the house crying
till she finds one of her friends.
Zeus dreams of being chased. He will fall into a dead sleep and
all of a sudden start kicking his feet as if running away. When
he sleeps nothing wakes him up. I have picked him up and placed
him somewhere else and through all this remains sleeping. And stays
in the same position. Sound sleeper???????
