    It's that time of year again folks!!!  Halloween means trickstres
    at the door and candy all over the house.  Please be careful during
    these next couple of weeks.  Kids are getting wound up and many
    enjoy trying on their costumes early to see how many people they
    can scare.  Many animals are frightened of the strange faces so
    be extra alert.  Cats can sneak out of the house unseen during all
    the commotion.  Dogs too can be frightened especially if they are
    kept outside most of the time.  This time of year is also a very
    sacred time of year for some religions.  It means sacrifices to
    the unholy and many times at the expense of the poor stray or even
    our unsuspecting pets.  PLEASE  keep an eye on your pets.  And if
    you've been putting off taking that stray to the shelter either
    adopt it or bring to a shelter.  It may be its only salvation. 
    It is not with any sense of pleasure that I write this only from
    first hand experience.  Unfortunately this type of thing really
    does happen and it happens everywhere.  Please be careful!!!

	I also have some first hand knowledge about the cruel things young kids can do to cats. Something about firecrakers and the back sides of kitties, but I won't go into details... Khelsey is going to stay in the basement next Tuesday night! I can just see her darting out of the house when one of the little "trick-or- treat"ers comes up to the door. We'll bring her upstairs only to help celebrate my birthday! 8^) Kerry (and Khelsey)

	My local paper has recommended everyone to keep their kitties inside for the next couple weeks. The MSPCA has said they will not let out any adoptions until after the Halloween holiday. Good thinking! Yes, I have had unfortunate things happen too, when I was a kid. There are some very sick people out there. keep the babes in! Denise

	And me with Midnight (especially because he's black and it's the black cats as well as white ones the cults seem to like to harm. This is not only for cats for you folks who also own dogs. In particular they like to get hold of German Shepards. Caught just a brief part of a news item this morning about someone's very valuable Golden Retriever being taken from it's kennel and a pumpkin left in its place with a note saying, "Have a nice day and thank you for the dog!" Creeps! :-( Pat_who_can't_stand_it_when_people_use_religion_as_excuse_for_cruelty!
