2937.0. "Garfield Creator Visits MK02!!!" by MICLUS::MTAG () Tue Oct 10 1989 17:42

    Do any of you work in MK02? Jim Davis, the Garfield creator, was
    visiting the Image Systems Group for a demo of their product yesterday.
    My husband works in that group, but unfortunately didn't get to meet
    him. Too bad... I would have loved an original (autographed) Garfield
    drawing for my office.

    From what I understand, Jim Davis has staff cartoonists do the
    strip for him now that he has hit the big time. Most cartoonists
    do the same thing. The only hold out for the old fashioned, draw
    it yourself school is Charles Schulz, the creator and artist behind
    Peanuts.

2937.3I GOT TO SEE GARFIELD'S DADDY ! !BIMINI::SPINGLERWed Oct 11 1989 10:0722

    I did not get to MEET Jim Davis (Garfield's daddy) but I did get
    to SEE him!!!!!

    I work in the same bay (of the building) as the Image Technology
    Center demo area, which is where Jim Davis and his staff were visiting.

    It was great, they stuck a Garfield on the big window and lined
    up all the other plush charecters on a shelf in the back of the
    center. You know, it sort of looked like my room, with all the
    stuffed animals around, but no real cats.

    It took me all day to catch a glimpse of Jim Davis, his name was
    on the board, so I knew that he was going to be there, the trick
    was to find lots of errands that took me by the window of the Demo
    center! ;-) I wasn't brave enough to try for an autograph.
