| Buddy Dog (hones) provides people with certificates for reduced
rates for spaying. I have had my pets done this way and it was
quite reasonable, however I don't remember the exact cost.

| $100, $120 for a spay!!!!!
I hope that your cat had a private room, private nurse, and was
offered Dom Perignon when she woke up...
I had Krista (Joui's mom) spayed for $35.00 and that included shots!
I had LTK spayed for $37.50 without shots.
We had Blackie O'Kelly neutered for about $22.50 with shots.
Can there really be that big of a difference in prices between coasts?
The prices listed above where the standard everyday price, no discounts
or coupons.

| What does the $100 include, Winnie? Felv test/shot? Declawing?
If declawing, I don't believe you can get spay certificates from
Friends of Animals.

| $100 is the going rate for some vets. Since you're in Maynard
I suggest you check out Apple Country Animal hospital. They charge
$65 and I think they're great. That's where I got Melynda (now
Willow Grace) and Tymothee. They neutered Melynda for me for $35
as an incentive for adoption. They did an excellent job and even
kept her overnight which alot of low-cost folks don't do.
If you still want the applications, let me know. My husband works
at the mill and I can have him bring them in for you.

| Angell Mem. Animal Hospital (MSPCA) does low cost
neutering (male) $25
spaying (female) $40
No special coupons/certificate needed.
(It would be more if there are any complicating factors.)

| Hi Jo -
Just to answer you question, can there be that much difference between
the cost of spaying/neutering between the coasts, I had a chance
to read a newspaper from around the Winnipesaukie (sp) lake area
while we were up there on vacation and so many vets up there advertised
their prices for spaying/neutering/shots of different kinds/declawing
that I think it would be cheaper for us in this area to drive up
there and use them for our vet needs. They also run clinics several
times a year for the necessary yearly shots. Here is a sample of
their prices
Spay $32.00
Neutering 22.00
Shots
Rabies 6.00
4 way 6.00
Felv 4.00
Declawing 35.00
Most of the ads read these vets cared about the animals getting
their shots and being spayed/neutered as it would help keep the
animals healthy and the orphan/feral population down.
Here in Nashua most vets charge $50.00 for neutering and $85.00-100.
for spaying, and shots are usually $8.00 each except for Felv which
is $25.00 for the series, and of course most charge a $20.00 office
visit on top of these prices and sometime that is charged for EACH
animal you bring in. (That to me is uncalled for, (no flames) as
in my case I bring Mocha and Ming in at the same time and that's
$40.00 for the office visit before we start.)
I used to give out dogs their shots but just wouldn't do it with
my two kitties. (Saints are so much more durable..!!)

| Winni, I can't help with certificates but I think you should
get a second opinion... I only paid about $40.00 to have my
cat done. That was a couple of years ago but I don't think
the cost has gone up that much. Good luck with your kitten!
