| Kelly -
Its very difficult to place older cats so a week is a rather
unrealistic time frame. Try putting some ads up at the local
grocery stores and screen folks carefully.
Be advised that if you take Frances to a regular humane society
the chances are that she'll be euthanized because of her age. You
might try "kitty Angels" in Tyngsboro (508) 649-4681 or the
Bosler Humane in Barre Ma. I don't have their phone number. Both
shelters are "no kill" and maybe they'll have some room.
Good Luck.

| What exactly does "reacted poorly" mean? Did they try to work
with this situation and give the cat a chance to get adjusted?

| Basically, the cat became very unsociable. Don't know the details other than
the personality changed and he rarely came out from under the couch. Strange -
as this was a second baby and he did not react this way to the first.
Now - to make matters worse - the doctor just determined that the baby is
highly allergic to cats.
I've called a few places with no luck. The animal shelter won't take him
unless it is to put him away. 'Kitty Angels' and a few of the other no-kill
shelters are full and waiting lists are out into October. My options are
becoming very limited.
Someone mentioned a note in this file about elderly housing programs. I think
that an elderly person would be ideal for this cat. Any pointers to the note
or places in the north-east that do this?

2787.4 | Try a cat show | CRUISE::NDC | Nancy Diettrich-Cunniff-I wanted it all | Wed Aug 23 1989 14:27 | 14 |
| Kelly,
If you can find a home for him for about a month, you might try
bringing him to the Framingham Cat show. One or more of the shelters
are usually represented. Talk to the entry clerk. Perhaps they
will let you rent a cage and you can put the cat up for adoption.
Your chances of finding a new home would be pretty good, I would
think.
Also, did you talk to Jean (?) at Kitty Angels? When I had Tymothee
she offered to let me bring him to a cat show (?W.Warwick 9/16-17?)
and try to find him a home. They would let me bring him to their
table. You could ask her about doing something like that.
Good luck

| Thanks, Nancy - but I have received one response with a possible home
for Frances. I'll keep my fingers crossed for now and will keep your idea
in mind if it falls through.

| Well, its going to make typing tough, but I'll keep my fingers
crossed for you and Frances. If you do decide to try and bring
her to Framingham, don't wait too long to contact the show clerk.
There might not be much room.
Good luck

| Looks like another happy ending! Someone passed my note on to a Digital
employee and she took Frances home for the weekend to see how well he would
get along with her kitten. She just wrote to tell me that everything went
well and Frances is adjusting to his new home. Thanks to everyone offering
help!
