| Karen, lucky you because we have two Exotic Shorthair breeders in
this very file -- Cin Gerry and Elaine Trachman! They can tell
you everything you want to know about Exotics. My neighbor has
one of Cin's and he is a very good housepet; friendly, loving,
playful, etc. He's also adorable!
As for Scottish Folds, Nancy DC has one who is really "cleaning
up" on the show circuit. I also have a friend who has 3 Folds (one
folded ear; two straight ears) and she says their personalities
are wonderful and they get along well with other cats.

| Whether or not they get along well with other cats will depend on
the individual cats involved. I haven't heard of any breeds who
have a breed trait of getting along well with other breeds.
Scottish folds come in many colors and varieties. I think they
are recognized in any color except pointed (siamese pattern) in
CFA. Some of the folds have straight ears, others have folded.
They all have the sweet personalities, and cute round faces.
Exotics are actually a short haired Persian, so yes, they all have
the ultra short noses. They come in all colors including pointed.
I like to call them a Persian in it's underwear. They also have
those cute round faces.
Good luck, hope you can talk your husband into two more.

| I'll vouch for Dundee, Nancy's Scottish Fold. He is definitely a love.
And he lives with other cats too.

2786.4 | I LOVE my Dundee!! | CRUISE::NDC | Nancy Diettrich-Cunniff-I wanted it all | Tue Aug 22 1989 08:37 | 22 |
| Karen -
Dundee MacTavish is the sweetest most loveable cat I've ever met!
The sweet and somewhat comical disposition is a trait of scottish
folds. I saw my first fold about 4 1/2 years ago and fell in love
instantly. I carried Tony's business card (breeder) around for
3 years before I was able to purchase Dundee. It was well worth
the wait.
Tony should be back from Portugal now - he got married 7/15 and
if you want a fold I'd say talk to him. Dundee was sold as a pet
and has done very well in the CFF shows. His ears could be more
tightly folded, but personally I prefer the ears slightly lifted.
As far as how well he gets along - well he's the only one of the
four that got along with Tymothee, our fostercat. Dundee is a bit
territorial, tho I've noticed with the outdoor cats. Its funny
to watch this little 6.5 lb fold try to chase off a big tomcat.
Of course, I'm right there on the other end of his leash and I
wouldn't let him get involved in any fights - besides, we have to
protect that pretty face for shows.
I'll have Dundee at the Framingham show on 9/24 so come see him.
Oh - one other trait of folds is a soft plush coat!

2786.5 | THANKS!! | HAMSTR::PARKER | | Tue Aug 22 1989 09:57 | 11 |
| Thanks for the replies. I am planning to go to the cat
show in September...I can't wait to meet Dundee!! There
were only a couple of scottish folds at the manchester
show, I hear that the Framingham show is a lot bigger..
I'm really looking forward to going. My only problem
when I go is I want to take one home with me...my
hubby says it's definitely not in the cards now...but
he has agreed to let me get two more in the future.
See you on the 24th!

| Keep working on you husband, Karen! One year ago, mine said "one
cat only" and now we have five! I just kept 'bitchin and he finally
got sick of listenin'! Really, though, he loves the cats as much
as I do!

| Karen, I talked to Tony yesterday, (my breeder) and he has some
more kittens on the way. Tony's main concern is finding good homes
for his kittens and not making money. He charges very very reasonable
prices for his kittens and they are obviously of high quality.
He has two on the show circuit that Bev Hardacre has been showing
for him that are absolutely STUNNING! (Silver patch tabby & white)
They look like little snow bunnies.
I'm still thinking seriously of getting a show quality female
and breeding one or two litters under a breeder's supervision.
I'm not going to do this unless I'm going to do it right so I have
to decide if I'm willing to make the committment. I ADORE folds!
Hope to see you at the show Karen.

2786.9 | GOT THE FEVER! | HAMSTR::PARKER | | Wed Aug 23 1989 10:21 | 18 |
| When are the kittens due? Also, what is considered a very very
reasonable price? I told my hubby (Bob) last night that I
wanted to go to the show in Framingham...he said "no way"...
I said, we'll discuss it later. Hopefully I can talk him
into it. If not, I'll go myself.
We live in a condo right now which is for sale...we've
bought land and will build on it when the condo sells. He
said no way to two more cats now. But, he did agree to it
when we have a house....maybe he'll agree to one more now.
He said if I could get one for free, he'd let me get one
immediately...but, I have the scottish fold fever!! I also
fell in love with an exotic short hair at the show!
I'll be at the show and maybe I can get Tony's phone
number from you then!
