2662.0. "Need a good kennel" by MOSAIC::STEGER () Mon Jul 10 1989 15:12

I need to board my two cats at a kennel during the last week of
August. I have been using a kennel for a number of years which
is rumored to have gone out of business (K-9 Corner in
Bedford/Tyngsboro, MA - anyone know if this is true?).

I would appreciate recommendations for kennels within a reasonable
distance from Acton, MA. I know of kennels in Harvard and Boxboro, but
do not know anything about them.

Price is no object - these are my CATS after all.

    Thanks,
    Marlene

When I was sent to Ireland on business for 2 years, I boarded
my cats at Saddle Hill Kennels in Hopkinton. The owner, Tom
Fitzpatrick, did a terriffic job with them, and had them regularly
vetted for me while I was away. He even has a special excercise
penned-in area for long term boarders. I got my cats back in excellent
condition. I highly recommend them, if they're still in business.
My last experience with them was 1982. I don't have the number
handy, but I'm sure it's listed. Good luck!

If you can't find a kennel you might check out a cat sitter. I
know there's a note in here about it somewhere. Does anyone
    remember where?
Cats are generally happier to stay home and have someone come
in. Plus you don't have to worry about them picking up fleas
or anything else from other animals at the kennel.

Try note 400 for cat sitting services in your area.

I use a catsitter who is located in Bedford. She is excellent.
Her name is Sue McCoomb of VIP SITTERS at 617-275-2369. I use
her all of the time since I travel quite a bit for DEC.

    Re: .0

I want to update my original note. I finally got in touch with K-9
Corner. They are still in business, so I will be boarding my cats
there. Thanks for your suggestions, anyway.

FYI - I have used them many times, and both cats come back very happy
(with their little sunglasses and beach hats).
They have smaller cages, but also large indoor/outdoor runs, which I always
choose. Charles and Thomas seem to sense when they are going there, and
are very quiet in the car. (Unlike the trips to the vet, when they
complain the whole way.) I would recommend them to anyone looking for a
    good kennel in the area.

Sounds like you have a good kennel there. Glad it worked out for
you. I especially like the part about sunglasses & beach hats.
(What an image I had in my mind :-)

I use CATNAPS, in Berlin (508)838-2627 It's $5 a day, less for a
second cat.

The owner, Nancy, is wonderful, and gives a lot of personal attention.
