    Gee Whiz Sandi,

Seems like the people that have the biggest hearts
suffer the most don't it sometimes? OK I wish I could be of more
help. I can tell you the way things work and I can't gaurantee
a thing. My advice to you would be to see first if you can get
her into a no-kill shelter. I'm not saying that your feelings are
right about the humane society I just think that you yourself would
sleep more easily knowing that she was in a no-kill.

I am not speaking for the humane society but I think
I've been around there long enough to know how it works. There
is no problem with them taking her and NO she would not be PUT DOWN
the minute she got there. Very unhealthy cats, viscous, and by
owners request are the only ones that are. She would be held in
one of the rooms for a certain amount of days to make sure she did
not have anything contagious etc... and then be placed in the adoption
room. My stand on this is it is not the humane societies fault
but the general public's. The public is a very fickle bunch. You
can never say that yup the cats are getting adopted left and right cuz
the minute you say that all of a sudden no one is interested in
a cat. It is also kitten season. However, they will not put down
any animal (except for the exceptions stated above) due to any time
limit. The overcrowding issue is the only one you take a chance
on. If the place gets flooded with new cats and kittens then yes
some decisions have to be made. Usually based on the length of
time they've been there etc.... This is not a daily occurrence
or even a weekly one. Chances are very high that she would get
adopted out from my perspective. However taking your emotions into
consideration I just think that you yourself would not be able to
deal with all these maybe's. Try a no-kill for your own peace of
mind. If that doesn't work then her chances are not as bad as you
feel at the humane society. Her chances are alot better at this
one then at some others- that you can hang your hat on. I just
wanted to clear up that animals are not "put down" that quickly
or easily at the humane society. They are given as long of a chance
for a new home as the public will allow (I'm talking in terms of
months not days). Please keep us up-to-date on your dilemma.

| | Kim,

I hope you aren't thinking that I thought the Humane Society would put
her down right away. I wasn't. I realize that she would have a better
chance there than at a home that was offered.

I can't put her in a barn with a bunch of dogs and other cats and
boars and sows and hope she survives. She is in a weakened condition
due to the kittens still nursing and know she wouldn't be able to
    defend herself.

Kim, I asked for your help because I know that at times the shelters
turn you away because of over-crowding. I needed to know if there is
a place for her if necessary.

I am buying some food tonight so that should give her a reprieve.

Sandi (still looking for a home)

Hey no fair.... it only took my title and left out all of my
note!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it was a long one too.... (groan)

I'm going to try again i guess....

      Sandi,

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to imply that i was insulted or
angry at anything you wrote. On the contrary, i thought from the
original that you felt like she wouldn't have much of a chance at
the humane society and i just wanted to go through the process so
maybe you'd feel a little better if you would need to bring her
there. How much time do you think you have to keep her where she
is? Will you have to make a decision this week-end?

            nancy what about kitty angels?

or better yet WOULDN'T ANYBODY IN THIS FILE WANT OR KNOW
OF SOMEONE THAT WOULD LIKE MAMA KITTY???????

entering this for Sandi, who is on vacation. (Lucky Duck!!!)

Mama cat has a wonderful new home!! Three cheers and a God Bless to
Colleen who also took one of Mama's babys. Mama, baby (Patches) and
Colleen and Larry are all getting along just fine. Mama has even
decided to start being friendly arter only a few days in her new home.
That's quite a feat for a furface that has been so badly treated by the
human race until Sandi's family came along.

Both cats will be neutered and will be indoor kittys.

Thanks everyone who wrote with help and advise and who just cared and
    worried, 'cause that counts too!!

    Feline wonderful!!!

               For
