| Thanks for the info about the node. All dog officers, shelters and
even the police in surronding towns have been notified. Bob the
owner was going to call the Marlboro radio station this morning.

| Is there an answering machine on the number on the tag??? If not,
Smokey may already be safe, but whoever found them can't reach anyone
at the number on the tag.
just a hopeful thought...

| If I understood correctly the number on the tag is Smokey's vet
but I don't know if the area code is on it and who would think of
a dog from Canada being lost! I mentioned the tag because it was
a way of identifying Smokey. I don't know about you but all black
labs look the same to except they come in different sizes. No flames
please that is just my observation. Smokey loves people so there
is a good chance he is with someone.

| If there is no area code on the tag, you could dial that number locally
and explain to the person that answers what is going on, and that if
they get a call from someone that found a dog to call the correct
number in Canada (collect)?

| Well no luck so far. You would not beleive the people out looking
for smokey. One good thing I did find out though is the area code
is on his tag. I will keep you posted. Thanks for your concern.

| Yes I am sorry to say. I have been out for a couple of days so didn't
have a chance to get back to all of you. Smokey was found up in
the woods past the Littleton cut of on 495 by some boy scouts.
Evidently he was trying to find his way back home. He didn't have
a mark on him and no blood I am assuming he died from a heart attack
he was very over weight. I have some real mixed emotions about this
and I think the whole thing could have been avoided but I'm not
judging anyone, it's not my place. I feel really bad, I have a dog
and 2 cats but I would have tons more if my husband would let me.

| I know it's a little late, but I just read this note. I'm SO sorry
about Smokey.....what a sad, sad story. It makes us think about
our animals and how precious they are to us...
