2337.0. "cat humour" by LARVAE::WATSON_C () Wed Mar 29 1989 09:53

    cat humour

I used to have a black and white cat (heinz 57 variety) called Hector.
his favourite time of day was, as usual, tea time. Whenever he
heard me scraping open the cat food tin, he'd disappear, and we'd
have to play about five minutes of treasure hunt, if we didn't find
him in that time, he'd stalk us while we were looking, and jump
out at us from behind. He liked this better, because he would then
rush off and eat!!!! If we did find, he'd be all upset and huffy
    for about the next hour!!

Another favourite of his was sitting on us while we were watching
tv, he'd wait until we were all relaxed and involved with whatever
was on the screen, then he'd pounce on us from behind! he'd then
sit on us for a little while, say five minutes each person, until
he'd found the most comfortable lap!! If he chose me as most
comfortable and I moved, he'd go round again, searching for the
    next most comfortable lap!!

He was a real character. I called him a warm-weather outdoor cat.
He stayed in the house almost permanently in winter, but in summer,
he's out there, chasing the birds, and generally having a whale
    of a time!!

Sadly, he died of old age (about eighteen human years!) and I haven't
been in the position of being able to replace him, because I'm living
in rented accommodation which doesn't allow pets... sob!

Thanks for your story Christine. I love reading cat stories.
I don't think I could live without a feline companion. Perhaps
you can take some time and find a place that would allow you
to have an indoor cat. It would be worth the effort.
Good luck - maybe the FELINE notes file can act as a surrogate
until you can have your own kitty again.
