| I don't know. I've been feeding Dream Science Diet since November,
and I think she's gained weight! She's sagging in the middle!

Mary-Michael,
I was feeding my boys Science Diet and they gained a tremendous
amount of weight. Found out Science Diet may be good for cats with
FUS type of problems, but it is LOADED with calories. You may want
to check with your vet about the Lite formula, or some other type
of cat food that is just as good but low in calories. The Science
Diet Lite formula has about 9% fat vs. 23% fat in the regular formula.
Big difference. I haven't tried it yet because I'm trying to get
rid of what I have.

| Was just checking Monroe and Winston's health records last night
and found out some interesting information. After being on Science
Diet R/D and Science Diet Light Maintenance for one year and 3 weeks,
Monroe has gained 2 lbs.!!! Winston has trimmed down.

| RE: .3
I *have* been feeding her Science Diet Light since I've gotten her!
And while the others get canned food in the evening, she won't
touch it ("Mother, my delicate palate can't be degraded by
anything less than Sheba. After all, it *is* for people who
worship the cat....") so, she only gets Sheba once in a while.
She had one litter before she was spayed, and she kind of sags
a bit underneath. This gets exacerbated when she gains weight
and she starts looking slightly obscene. I call her my "full
figured gal." She gives me dirty looks.

| Make sure you're feeding the right amount. Nothing is diet
food if you consume too much.
When I first started feeding the C/D I was letting the crew
free-feed on the dry. After only one week I could see a
difference in Isis - she was bigger! The vet laughed and
told me not to let them free-feed that most cats only require
1/2 c of the dry per day. So they get the canned in the morning
and 3/4 - 1 c dry (for all 4) in the evening.
And everyone has that svelte figure!

| I've tried putting down a cup in the morning and a
cup in the evening (otherwise, I get awakened at
5:00 AM by the hungry, hungry kitties), but I have
one or two chow hounds, and everyone doesn't always
get their share. And Dream has the pitiful-starving-
kitty look down to a science, complete with soulful
"owwwwww", and big sad blue eyes. Soo, she get a
little extra. But they don't free feed. They
are portioned controlled. They just occasionally
get an extra portion ;-)
