2280.0. "LOOKING FOR GOOD, CARING HOME FOR A SMALL FRIEND" by RETORT::BREDA () Thu Mar 09 1989 09:55

I'm looking for a good, caring home for a cat I found this morning
in Charlton Massachusetts. It (I'm not sure if it is a male or
female at this point), was trying to cross the street and almost
got hit. It is a beautiful long-haired tiger.

The reason why this cat caught my attention was that it was limping
very badly. It let me pick it up, with little hesitation, where
I immediately noticed its back right paw had partially bitten off.
I brought it to the vet this morning, where they told me it looked
as though the injury occured a day or two ago. I will pay for whatever
needs to be done to put the kitty back in good shape again. By
the way, I did stop at a house right next door and they did not
think the cat belonged to anyone in the area, (they had seen it
limping around the day before). I will put signs up in the immediate
area - but I am somewhat hesitant, since the cat had been injured
for a period of time and no one (like the owner) had taken care
    of it.

Also, for a cat that was obviously in pain, it had a very calm ,
gentle disposition. It was very trusting and rode without any
problems in my car to the vet.

I cannot keep the cat, as I have three of my own and that is more
than enough for the size of my apartment.

Pleae let me know if you or anyone you know could provide a good
home to this cat - I would like to avoid putting it in a shelter
(humane or not), if at all possible.

    Regards,

                  Kathy

I took the cat to Southbridge Vetrinary Medical Services on
route 169, Dr. Simonelli is caring for the kitty.

Any particular reason why you were wondering about the vet?

    Regards,

That was a wonderful thing you did Kathy. If the vet bills
become unmanagable, let me know. I'll try to help out some.
We have four feline friends, so I know it can get expensive.

Good News - I have found a very good home for Mr. Cat.

Nancy, thanks very much for your offer! Hopefully he will
respond to the antibiotics and won't need surgery.

    Regards,
