I am shortly to get a colourpoint/himalayan kitten, age appx 14
weeks, and think it would be sensible to get her a friend (purely
platonic!) for company.
Does anyone have any thoughts on how to get one kitten to accept
another new friend? And thoughts on how to avoid traumas while
there is some building work going on in the bathroom of the house.
The expectation is that the cats are not going out!
Many thanks for your help!

If you are planning on the friend to also be a kitten you shouldn't
have any problems. Get the friend on a friday after work so you
can be home to supervise for the weekend. If you are planning on
getting an older cat, do the same thing. When ever I would bring
a new kitten home the older cats never hurt them just ignored them
for a while.
Good luck let us know how you make out. It is a good idea to have
two cats, so they have company when your not home.

Its much easier with younger cats. There may be some hissing
and fussing, but probably not much with two kittens. I know
I've written other extensive notes on introducing new cats
but I don't know where those notes are and I don't have the
time right now to re-write them.
I would, however, be very happy to talk to you over the
phone if you like. Call me at dtn 297-2313. or send mail
