| 2214.1 | So sorry | STAR::BARTH |  | Thu Feb 09 1989 13:57 | 12 |
| | I'm very sorry to hear about Jesse James. It's strange... Yesterday
morning I had to bring my dog to the vet. While I was there someone
brought in a cat to be put to sleep because of feline leukemia, and I
cried all the way home. It really drove home how much my animals mean
to me, and because my dog was pretty sick I was worried that she could
go soon. The timing is such that I could have been crying for your
    cat.

Anyway, I'm very sorry, and after yesterday's experience I know a
    bit of how you feel.

    Karen, Tristan and Tenzing.

| | I am sorry to hear about your kitty. You are obviously a person
who cared very much for Jesse James--and I'm sure he knew it.

Although you could not be there as he passed on, it may be for the
better that you did not have to witness his death. It will be easier
for you to remember the important part of having a cat--their life,
and the happiness they gave you.

Please keep in touch with the feline noters. It is a very comforting
source in a time of sorrow. We understand.

    Thoughful regards,

    Cathy

| | I'm sorry to hear of your loss. My heart goes out to you as
I really know how you feel. I lost my most dear one in 1983.
Bubbles was 11 years old, a beautiful white silky-haired
Persian. We lost her to FUS. I got Bubbles when I was only
13 years old, and when I was 21 I moved to England. I stayed
there 3 years and moved to New England. All the while I wanted
Bubbles, but knew that she could never handle such a move, and
I knew that she would miss her mate, sweet little Sammy.

My parents were so afraid to tell me of her death that they
sent my husband a letter and asked him to tell me instead. But,
they realized this was unfair, and called us up and told me.
I was shattered. I am still mourning. I now have Pounce and
Nutmeg, but as long as my darling Bubbles was at home with my
parents, I refused to get another cat. My father reminded me
that Bubbles was full of love; she was love, and loves comes
from God and goes back to Him. That's where she is, and that's
    where Jesse James is too.

    Lynn, Pounce, and Nutmeg

| | You have all of my sympathy, I had tears in my eyes just from reading
your note. I had my very first experience with death when
my life long pal, Gabriel died at the age of 17, and then she died
in my arms and in her sleep. She was a toy poodle and not a kitty.

I felt that a big part of my life died with her, for she spent my
most important years with me. An animal is more than just an animal
they are a part of your family. My puppy died over 1 year ago and
I still miss her very much and have dreams about her.

Good luck in your recovery and remember that the pain gets easier
as time goes on and I am sure that all will agree if I say
"All of us in Feline Notes will help in any way we can."

| | My thoughts are with you Jo. Portia has tested positive to the
Feline Leuk - every day that goes by I feel thankful that she is
still healthy. I remeber reading your notes previously about Jesse
being diagnosed with the diseased - it has been an incentive to
me to see how well Jesse has survived living with your mom, and
makes me realize that I could still have Portia around for a long
time yet to come. I'm really sorry that Jesse is gone. But just
remember that now that he is in kitty heaven, he's starting his
new life as a healthy kitty.

| | Although the pain is such that no words can relieve it, take
heart in knowing that Jesse knew you all loved him. A cat can
sense this so very well. You saved him once and gave him life,
a happy, life filled with love all around. He will always be
ever so grateful for that. I lost 2 last year to leukemia and
the last one who had it, Noella is about to pass on as well. I
haven't gotten over the sadness yet, but I comfort in knowing how
everyone loved those kitties and they loved back. I also believe
that they are waiting for me, and I'll see them again, some distant
    day in the future.

Jo, we're so sorry about your loss.

I, too, went through this about (believe it or not) 7 years ago
and still think of Cho-Cho-San often. I had Choch (pronounced with
a long O) from the time I was 4 till I was 21 and when she died it
broke my heart. I eventually got over the pain, but I'll always
have the memorys, as will you. -- hang in there!

| | Jesse was a very special cat. He was extremely affectionate and
made every member of our family feel loved when they were near him.
He would great me at the door when I went to visit Mom. He'd sit
in my lap and knead my legs or follow me around the house. He had
the biggest kitty paws and the most adorable lion face.

    He was my "Jessaroo".

I tried so hard to get to the vet's before it was too late. I wanted
to have a chance to say goodbye and to tell him I loved him. I
    didn't make it.

Jesse James I love you and I'll miss you, but I know that your
spirit is free now and that you'll be waiting to greet Bailey and
Amelia in Kitty Heaven when it is their time.

I'm sure Jesse knew how much you loved him. Just because you
didn't make it, doesn't mean that he didn't know.

I remember when my cat, Tigger, died 8 years ago. My father
didn't believe in vets, so he died at home. Though I wanted to
be with him when he died, it was a bit of a struggle for him when
he died (he fought death even though he was so weak) and I couldn't
stay with him, it was just too painful. After this, my father
changed his mind; all cats got taken to the vet and given shots,
checkups, etc. That didn't do my poor Tigger any good, but at least
the other cats got better care because of it.

Our thoughts are with you. If you need anything, don't hesitate
    to ask.
