2211.0. "INTRODUCING MY BEST FRIENDS" by ERLANG::MAHONEY () Wed Feb 08 1989 14:50

    INTRODUCING MY THREE BEST FRIENDS

I just wanted to write and introduce my 3 best friends.

Frankie - Frankie was picked up at the Volunteer Humane Society
in Boxboro on a cold snowy day last winter. He was about 9 months
old then. Out of about 50 or 60 cats in a small trailer he was
the only one who ran up to me and wanted to be picked up. He is
a tabby with very dark markings and green eyes. He had a brother
at the shelter too whose name was Johnny (like the song) he was
all black and somewhat small. I was sorry that I could not take
him too. Frankie has the best personality that I have ever seen
in a cat in my many years of enjoying cats. He is definitely a
people person and cannot stand being left alone. Thats why I have
two other cats. He is constantly purring and walking around the
house talking in his very distintive voice. Even tho he is about
a year and a half old now he still has not grown up. He loves
to race around the house and his favorite toys are the strips that
come off of milk cartons. He will even go into the trash to get
them and then plays for hours. He always has to be in someones
lap and loves when people come to visit - they can't believe what
a friendly cat he is. If you just give him a look he will roll
over and meow and want to be picked up. He also will stand on his
back legs and stretch as far as possible and climb up your leg.
Good thing he doesn't have any front claws. He gets along wonderfully
with the other two cats that I have which are both spayed females.
Frankie is a spayed male. We call him boo boo kitty.

Binky - Binky is a mostly white cat with black and white tiger
stripes on her back. We got her when she was just a kitten. She
also loves to be petted but HATES to be picked up and HATES kids.
I have 5 nephews and she hides when they come over. She is kind
of a loner and often fights with Frankie when she is in a bad mood.
All in all she is a good cat and her favorite spot to sleep is on
the back of the couch on the afghan that my grandmother made me.
She is about a year and a half old and not quite as playful as
    Frankie but she is lovable.

Baby - We actually call her princess. Baby, I believe is half Maine
Coon and half somthing else. We picked her up at a farm where there
were three separate litters at once and the owners weren't sure
which was her mother. She had a lot of eye problems when we first
got her but now she is beautiful with deep green eyes. Her tummy
is white and she has a white mask and white paws with little strands
of fur sticking out from them - she slides everywhere. The rest
of her is a combination of mostly black with some dark brown. She
is very long haired and has a very bushy tail that looks like a
racoons. She is the most adorable cat I have ever seen. When you
talk to her she talks back. Her favorite spot is on my satin
beadspread propped up on the pillows like a princess. She purrs
louder than any cat I have every heard and loves attention. Frankie
takes care of her like her big brother. She is about 8 or 9 months
old now and getting cuter all the time. She hates to sit in laps
but will lay next to you and loves to be petted. She also likes
to sleep on her back alot. She also hates kids. She is a very
shy cat and usually hides when anyone new comes over the house.
I have heard that this is a trait of maine coon cats. She loves
to play with Frankie and Binky sometimes. Her favorite warm spot
is under our gas stove by the pilot. She is getting bigger tho
and I don't think she will fit there much longer. Well I wish I
could have more cats but three is the limit for now. I just wanted
to let everyone know what wonderful cats I have.

Welcome to Feline, Doreen, you will make many other cat loving
friends here as well. It's so neat how each one has their own
personality and quirks, just like us. I mean, they are just small
people with fur, right? And they are definately our best friends.
I have 4 cats right now, in fact, the most recent one, Max sounds
like your Princess. I think Max is part Maine Coon too, he sounds like
a brother to her, same colors and all! I had a Maine Coon who passed
away just before x-mas just 3 weeks shy of his 19th birthday. I
haven't gotten over it yet, but Max, Noella, Chief, and Pepper sure
    help.
Hope we hear more from you.......
